Suggestions for future expansions

Full disclosure: Not that anyone cares, but I've held off on purchasing The Dark Below until more reviews come out. Dear Bungie, for future expansions, please consider a price point that would include a new patrol area. While $20 is a fair price for The Dark Below, in my opinion what it buys is mainly the new Raid and its associated gear. That is fine for Raid players, but what percentage of players raid once a week or more? What about those players that don't or can't raid? Did TDB provide enough content for non-raiders for $20? If said expansion had been say $30, and had included a new planet (or even Phobos with a Cabal-oriented story arc to tidy up the main narratives, new patrol area, strikes [plural on the strikes for ALL platforms, please. PS4 owners can still have timed exclusives but you do NOT want other platform owners feeling shafted], and Raid), I would have pre-ordered it. I'm willing to bet many other PvE centric players who have not purchased TDB would have too, even at that higher price. As TDB currently stands, without the raid, we get two (I've read you can't repeat the first of the three) more story missions to enjoy a few times then add to the Daily Heroic rotation, the same for the Omnigul strike (fresh for a few runs then gets added to Weekly Heroic and Nightfall rotations), and the new Crucible maps. That's a little light on content for non-raiders (everyone should raid, best part of Destiny, but it's not user-friendly). BTW I read a nasty rumor that the new Crucible maps weren't designed for every mode. Please tell me that's not true; the three new maps should work for Control, Salvage, and Rumble for me to consider them significant PvP additions. Ground War is an exception. I think poor messaging is a major reason for the criticism you get. Destiny did not live up to messaged expectations, though still a financial and relative critical success (7.8 meta is still a very good game, which Destiny most certainly is). You guys are rolling in cash from Destiny's sales, and now you get the strength of Activision's budget and marketing machine behind Marathon 2, but how are the sales numbers looking for the Expansion? Is the TDB suffering from the same issue? If you had advertised TDB as a new Raid, rather than as an "expansion", would sales and customer reception be more positive? If you played World of Warcraft, or if that game in ANY way influenced Destiny, you know why "expansion" could be considered a bit misleading. Right?

  • Got your future expansion ideas right here: Horde Mode. But not just any old Horde Mode where X amount of Guardians Defende area B, while Y amount of enemy attack for Z amount of waves. Give me story in my Horde Mode! Who cares that the Speaker doesn't want to tell me about the "Great Battles", when I can experience them for myself; in flashbacks! Put us in those battles. Protecting the walls to the City. I want to be one of the last Soldiers that was at the battle when we lost the Moon. Strikes. Oh, how I love Strikes. Most strikes have us fighting our way into an enemy camp and taking out a target. How about a Strike that goes horribly wrong. Imagine if you will, your strike team flying above Venus (VENUS BABY!). Your Dinkle Bot telling you he doesnt have all the details of the secret mission; however, your contact, a Vanguard Scout codenamed "Rammer Jammer", will fill you in when you get on the ground. Once planet side, "Rammer Jammer", (voiced by Nathan Fillion)barelly has time to get out the words, "Hey Guardian", when suddenly BAAAMMM! Back and to the Left! Rammer Jammer goes down and the Drop Zone explodes into a hail of Gunfire! The Guardians must now fight their way out to survive. The Titans, can grab "Rammer Jammers" power pack to overcharge his Ward of Dawn to be a mobile shield and run his way out. The Warlock could use the pack to rip a hole in the space time continuum; creating a worm hole to travel through. The Hunter; well, lets face it. Under this kind of stress the Hunter is now sitting in the corner rocking back and forth clutching his knees in a pool of his own bile, wrapped in his baby blanket (Hood). Or maybe the Fallen get their hands on some Pre-Golden Age nukes. The Guardians are sent in to disable the WMD's, but when you get close to the last one the Fallen set it off. You survive but the blast from the EMP fries your tech. No HUD, no Holographic sights, no refresh icons, no Guardian down icons, no Sparrow. Oh, and no shields. Just you, a small sliver of health, and hopefully you brought iron sights. Your Ghost being tech from the Traveler still has communication with the tower and summons you a transport. This all happens in a Dark Zone to ramp up the, "OH ISH" factor. The Strike ends with your Fire Team making a mad dash across the Cosmodrome, dodging falling War Sats the hole way. Stop too long to fight, BAM, War Sat to the Dome Piece. Class Missions. Mini stories about a Fire Team of Titans, Warlocks, or Hunters. Make them tailored to the Classes Sub-class. In the Titan missions would focus heavily on defense, the Warlocks on Offense, and the Hunters could have a mini game involving knitting capes, or something. Ok, so maybe the Hunter mission would involve them fighting there way through a sand storm on Mars or getting all nasty in a close quarter jungle fight on Venus. You dont have to thank me now. I know these are just concepts; but, I can flesh things out once you get me an office or cubicle at Bungie. Just bring me in as a "Good Idea Genie". "Hardest part about being a Titan? Deciding to destroy your enemy or protect your brothers." "Hardest part about being a Warlock? Deciding to incinerate the enemy or rip their very being through time and space." "Hardest part about being a Hunter? Telling your Dad your gay!" - The Speaker, 2714 A.D.

    • It also has 3 multiplayer maps and 1-2 strikes. If you don't raid or play crucible or vanguard playlists honestly this game might not be the right choice for you at its current state. The "open" worlds leave very much to still be desired.
