One of my favorite things about this game is the vast majority of weapons and armor that can be obtained. Some of the rare weapons that you can get have really cool looks/names/descriptions, same goes for the armor. Unfortunately these cool pieces fall under the dreaded "rare" class which I consider cool and good, but not good enough for the higher level things such as raids or the iron banner. For these things you have to turn to the legendary or exotic gear that everyone else has. Now, don't get me wrong these pre-made legendary things (and exotics) are also really cool, but I like lots of options for my character's customization. I don't like looking like or having the same weapon that everyone else uses (with some exceptions). Here is my example: Currently my favorite Auto Rifle is called "Problem 78F" because of its sleek look and awesome description. However, this gun is sub-par in PvE and the iron banner, forcing me to keep Shadow Price as a back-up. I dislike having to have a backup auto rifle, so I thought "What could be done to change this?" Here is exactly what can be done: A system for upgrading [i]rare weapons[/i] to [i]legendary status[/i] could be incorporated. This could be done very simply with all the ascendant materials we get. I don't have a good idea of what the cost [i]should[/i] be but here is what I have in mind. *4 ascendant shards/energy to upgrade a rare piece to legendary status. *Select a new permanent perk for your weapon/armor out of a pool of perks for each weapon/armor type to make it a unique legendary. *The usual base damage improving/resisting system requiring ascendant materials to allow the weapons/armor to have the same base damage/resistance as common legendary pieces. TL:DR A system to upgrade rare weapons/armor to legendary weapons/armor. The addition of this system to the game would allow a whole new level of customization to the game and not everyone would be running around with the same weapons and armor as the next guy. Feedback?
