It is legitimate. If you go to their profiles they have the emblem for clearing the raid and check their raid stats. To give these guys credit they are with [b]Team Invigorate[/b] who also cleared VOG on hard first. They beat the raid in under 6 hours!
Congrats to team Invigorate! Great job guys! Please share tips and strategies for other raiders! Thanks!
EDIT: It looks like you will need a Lvl 31 to hold the sword at the end of the raid but all other parts are doable with Lvl 30s only.
I've seen teams almost defeat Crota with all 30s. I think it is possible but extremely hard.
The fireteam was only 6. You can not have a 7 man fireteam. I'm assuming they dropped someone and replaced them at some point.
The Lvls on the link say Lvl 29 because they switched gear after the raid.

3 RepliesOur team got to Crota in about 3-4 hours when the DLC dropped. We spent the next 10 hours trying to beat crota with all level 30s. Sadly we did not. We got him below half health maybe 40 percent but inevitably...Enrage took us all out. We then realized we would not be able to beat him until after enrage, so we found a spot behind the right tower where adds cant hit you and you have a perfect line of sight with the oversoul. 25 minutes later the enrage is still going strong with no end in sight. We kept formulating different strategies to deal more dps... In the end we lost to Crota. Level 30 raid that apparently cant be beat with level 30s...

5 RepliesMy team was at Crota by 8AM. We practiced time and time again and were pretty much running it as fast as humanly possible. It just isn't possible without a level 31 swordbearer to do enough damage to Crota before Enrage. I feel kinda cheated that these guys swapped in a 31 for the Crota fight. I vote that their clear doesn't count and that Bungie is stupid for making the raid impossible without a 31.

30 RepliesCongratulations to them, I envy having them for having the time to sit up all night during a weeknight just to be the first to beat the mission in a video game. Humanity as reached a whole new level of achievement. Forget the industrial revolution or the enlightenment, what will truly be remembered is that there was a group of guys who were the first ever to complete a mission in a video game twice!

I've always thought of it as common sense that you'd need a level or more above the "requirement/recommendation" to have a chance or an easy time with said mission/strike/raid. I'm blown away by how many people don't seem to get this after the game being out this long... The only thing this didn't apply to before dlc was the weekly nightfall due to excessive modifiers. You [i]always [/i] had to be leveled up to stand a surefire chance.

26 RepliesOur team of 30s got to Crota by 8am ET. We then proceeded to endure 6 hours of wiping. We got Crota as low as 25% by the Enrage but realized it just wasn't possible without higher level players. Since the world first title was taken, we thought it best to not waste any more time and level our players, instead. Admittedly, we were a bit irked to learn that the winning team knew that a 31 was necessary and had a team of 6 30s push through the raid to give a 7th enough time to increase to level 31 with hoarded bounties and close rep levels for commendations. They were cunning, but they had a bit of an unfair edge over the competition.

Me and my group got to third part, it is so hard u can't believe u need to be 31 to have a better shot... The raid is insane. And worth the dlc money alone. Fake or not i just bought new gear to be better prepared and I have all raid gear for vog

1 ReplyI think it is possible for 6 30s to beat Crota, only because the raid requires a 30 to get in. Why require a certain level if that particular level can't complete the activity? Makes no sense. However, with 6 30s and good tactics this is still very difficult. We had 6 30s (2 Warlocks, 2 Hunters, 1 Titan- all good players). We had 3 maxed (pre-dlc) g-horns and 3 maxed (pre-dlc) ice breakers. Every was also running maxed pre-dlc power primaries (i.e fatebringer, VoC, ran mytho for a while, thorn, etc). In addition our titan ran weapons of light (more damage against Crota), and had the Helm of Saint-14. All special and heavy guns were maxed or near max as well. We camped on the left side of the spawn, using ice breakers against the boomers and everything else against everything else (ammo seems to drop at a higher rate in this raid). We never got his health below half, and after we found our rhythm no one died until after he enraged. You either need 30s with more skill than us, or more upgraded post-dlc weapons. I would imagine a maxed g-horn (post dlc) would pack a punch. Dragon Breath (or whatever it's called) would be great for damage and crowd control. Ice Breaker would take down Boomers faster, and all weapons would do greater damage against Crota. Honestly, it's not hard to get to 31, so I think my team will be doing that this week and hitting Crota again this weekend. I have DB boots and gloves for my Warlock, but not enough REs to get them above 27 light. Hopefully I'll find more this week through bounties and quests, but I doubt it. I already have the new vanguard boots maxed as well (replaced VoG boots) and can buy a helmet to replace my VoG helmet. While I do have DB boots, vanguard boots give me 6 more light right now since they don't need RE. So instead of relying on these new radiant mats, I'll be upgrading my exotic chest friday which should take me to 31 along with the vanguard gear until I get more RE for DB gear.
