Nightfall 12/9

This week's nightfall is The Will of Crota (Omnigul, the Will of Crota) with the following modifiers. -Epic -Nightfall -Arc Burn -Lightswitch -Angry Praedyth's Timepiece (Arc Primary) Patience and Time (Arc Sniper) Hezen Vengeance/Thunderlord (Solar RL/Arc MG) DO NOT SOLO THIS. DO NOT SOLO THIS. DO NOT SOLO THIS. My stream: http://www.twitch.tv/angrydeathbox Attempt one (1:07:59): http://youtu.be/fqv8XIlRUm4 Here's a successful attempt on heroic: http://youtu.be/g-99E5L5DzQ Let me talk about this nightfall. THIS NIGHTFALL. THIS NIGHTFALL. I'm going to try to explain this as best I can, forgive me for grammar and spelling, I'm sleep deprived and extremely frustrated. Let's talk about them modifiers real quick and why they make this strike difficult. -Epic: Some enemies that normally don't have shields, do. (Like shanks) and since lots of enemies like to take cover when their shields are down, it makes killing them take twice as long. -Nightfall: This is what makes the nightfall a nightfall, if the entire party dies, the entire party gets sent to orbit, not last checkpoint. This makes soloing very dangerous. -Arc Burn: The blessing and a curse, enemies do triple arc damage to you, you do triple arc damage right back. Snipers will two shot, grenades CAN one hit, wizards will kill quick, and hive boomers will two hit. -Lightswitch: Basically, anything will one hit melee you, makes it scary. Here's the proof: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ld7gyuffZmE -Angry: Nothing flinches, combined with epic makes this difficult as enemies won't stand there and take an extra hit or two to die once their shields are down, this allows shielded enemies to get to cover nearly every time, makes killing things extremely difficult. Basically, you always have to watch out for thralls because they will rush you in mass numbers. YOU WILL RETREAT. There are plenty of stealth vandals and sniper vandals throughout the majority of the strike. They will force you to play the floor is lava. Captains will tank your shots and rush you. A general pain to kill. Shanks, there's only two waves of them, but they still eat ammo. Dregs, they just kinda exist to throw nades, force you to move sometimes. Acolytes are meh unless they have hive boomers, which a few do near the end. Knights are the bane of your existence in this nightfall. Shielded, unflinching, and most of them have hive boomers and are grouped so they can kill you if two of them land a hit. Some of them also have swords and can rush at you faster than you can walk back and shoot. Wizards are a pain, they kill quick with their arc bolts and since they don't flinch either, they will always hide behind cover when their shields are low/gone. Kill with extreme prejudice. There's an ogre, it does void, just don't stand still and in the open. Cursed Thralls are here and there at the end, not a big deal except for the few that spawn next to you at the end. Watch your back. Individually they're not too bad, but when you're fighting multiple knights, wizards, thralls, and acolytes, it becomes highly overwhelming. Again, fighting multiple sniper vandals is a pain as well, two of their shots will kill or one shot and some dregs. Captains will force you to shift your focus on them and you'll end up retreating because you can't handle 6 snipers, 2 captains, and multiple dregs here and there. It doesn't help that the boss in this strike is a cowardly wizard. At least the shield is arc so it goes down quick. Basically, you HAVE to stay back and play it extremely safe and not be greedy like I did in my first attempt because after an hour, it gets frustrating and exhausting and you become impatient. P.S. when you're at the second part of the strike (the array station thing) watch out above you for the one sniper on the gate, bungie tried to be sneaky. I'll try for nightfall maybe. For those of you wondering how to unlock the weekly strikes, you have to unlock the strike itself first. To do so, you need to do some of Eris's quests, after you do the ones that require you to patrol the cosmodrone and kill a few things, your next bounty will be to complete the new strike, this unlocks the weekly strikes and the regular strike. GOOD LUCK, GUARDIANS!
