No More Exotic Engrams!

Alright, so I've been hoarding my motes of light, waiting for that one weekend when Xur would finally say "Hey, here you go warlocks! Have some chest engrams!" Sure, I'd be putting my chances at getting Heart of the Praxic Fire in RNGesus' hands, but hey, what's a guy gonna do? So I got up to about 69 around Iron Banner, and he had Exotic Gauntlents. "No big deal, I'll just wait!" I farmed up to 115 Motes... enough for 5 engrams... I wait until 4:00 AM to see his stock, and what does he have? Not Heart of the Praxic Fire. The same exotic from LAST week. Exotic Shards, and... ...no engrams. WHAT IN THE FLIPPING HELL AM I GONNA SPEND THEM ALL ON NOW!? -sigh- So putting my anger aside, because I want to sound at least a little reasonable... I understand that having the Engrams for 23 motes made an easier alternative to get Exotic Shards, but... is it really THAT big a deal? People are complaining about how many Strange Coins it would cost to get so many exotic shards, and this could HELP them. Plus, it's the only way to get exotics other than the nightfall, which is a rare chance, and only once per week. This basically means that I, as a devoted Warlock who plays every day, will never get my Heart of the Praxic Fire. I don't mind Exotic Shards being a thing, and while the Exotic Weapons resetting even for those who fully leveled them... I could learn to get past that. And even me never getting my Heart isn't a HUGE issue, because I know there's still a "chance" I can get it. But when you try to limit the options players have in favor of extending game time, it becomes boring and monotonous. While it's cool we can get upgraded exotics, it's not cool that you're trying to "make it so anyone can jump in," because it makes people feel like their effort is for naught. Hell, I feel that way for farming so many motes! I can buy myself some spiffy new class items... but they do noting special, and I don't like how any of them look anyways. I can wait until Iron Banner comes around for some rerolls on my weapons, except I already did that. They only cost 2 per roll, and I already wasted like 26 of them. Still was able to hoard them. The point is, I understand there's a reason for taking out the Exotic Engrams, but it's the same reason that's pissing everyone off in the first place: Game Elongation. And that's the OPPOSITE of what you should be doing. You should be creating content that engages players, so THEY decide to keep playing the game, instead of forcing the players to play the same game again for small changes, which instead push them away. EDIT: According to Deej in a comment to someone on Twitter, he has stated Engrams will be more sporadic, apparently. Personally I think that's a weird choice, but at least they're still around.
