PLEASE READ: Exotic Wipe Alternative Discussion
So I see a lot of folks are upset over the new way to upgrade Exotics.
I also see that a lot of you aren't too happy about the way Exotics will be improved upon, starting Dec. 9.
So let's talk!
A lot of petitions have popped up in the past few days, but they don't really help DeeJ, or the Devs , to find alternatives, that we feel could be better than their intended methods. So what could be a better method to upgrade Exotic tiers, aside from the proposed [i]upgrade wipe[/i]? I believe i have a few plausible solutions to this [i]reset[/i].
[b]Current Progress Matters![/b]
Firstly, I think existing Exotics should [u]ONLY[/u] be available for tier upgrade when maxed out, fully. I suggest this because current upgrade progress [i]SHOULD[/i] still have purpose. Current tier Exotics already require less materials to upgrade than before; therefore, I don't believe it's asking too much of the community to continue to upgrade current tier exotics.
Some of you might not like this idea too much, as a standalone; however, I think this method allows for greater [i]satisfaction[/i] than that which would be achieved through wiping unfinished upgrades for a new tier of exotics.
"If OP's suggested upgrade process affects Exotic tier [i]eligibility[/i], [u]How does the tier upgrade process work?"[/u] --Well that's simple!
Why over-complicate existing exotics by duplicating them into other tiers? [b]Expand the upgrade tree for the existing tier![/b] [i](see linked image for example)[/i] By making multiple tiers for existing items, it leads to unoriginal titles, such as [i]"Icebreaker+"[/i] or [i]"Mask of the Third Man v.2."[/i]

What could work in place of the Exotic wipe?
Or is the wipe the preferred method for tier upgrade?

1 ReplyHonestly, the exotic wipe isn't even the worst bit in my opinion. We have gear that we like - gear that we fought hard to get, and level, and acquire the material for in order to max, clawing and climbing our way to that prestigious "30". And instead of allowing us to increase our current gear, make it better with items, increase it's light level, what have you, Bungie decides, in their infinite wisdom, that it would be better if we could all just start that process over again, and acquire new gear from the next raid to hit a new level. Oh, and they will increase the Weekly Heroics to 30 to compensate for the fact that they are basically making the past few weeks, if not month, for many of us completely pointless. You got to 30? Good job - prepare to drop back down to 27 again. There is armor I like the look of, and yet if I want to wear it I am at a disadvantage. I can not stand the fact that my hunter looks like every other hunter who is at 30 because there is only two ways to get there: raid gear or IB gear. Oh, but wait, I can just use a different shader...and still like the same as everyone else... I mean, come on Bungie - this was suppose to "revolutionize" console gaming and shit - why the hell did you create an MMO with no real customizations, no in-game economy, no trade system - just hoops you like making gamers jump through for no better reason than your limited imaginations and inflated ego's. And I am already hearing rumors about a "Destiny 2" - you guys haven't even finished this one yet! The next kick in the pants you will give all of us, who just want that Flawless Raider achievement, is to increase the current raid to 30 on normal and laugh with all the other people who got that achievement via the various glitches you pricks removed after-the-fact.
