By now, everyone knows about the exotic reset/exchange that Game Informer reported. I can see why everyone is frustrated and believe me, I am too. I have maxed out Suros Regime, Truth, Vex Mythoclast, The Last Word, Ice Breaker, Patience and Time, Voidfang Vestments, Dire Skull of Ahamkara, Light Beyond Nemesis, Helm of Saint-14, Helm of Inmost Light, and Achlyophage Symbiote. However, if what Datto tweeted is true (weapons reset to 300 damage), then that helps my frustration. Still, the time invested in ranking up my weapons and armor still feels like waste. I was making significant progress upgrading my Thorn and Bad Juju since their new upgrades make them worthwhile. But, my big issue was the timing of both the patch and the announcement. First, Bungie released the patch that fixed a lot of the exotics through buffs and the Suros nerf. The patch introduced the "Exotic Shard" which basically made holding onto our duplicates worth something. I immediately dismantled my two extra Patience and Time and my extra Bad Juju. I held off dismantling my extra Mythoclast and Ice Breaker because I thought it would be nice to have them on two characters. But then we get the announcement about resetting the exotics. It would have been nice to know that so I wouldn't have dismantled my duplicates to get the exotic shard which was for not as my exotics will now have to be reset. Not only that, but I could have exchanged my non-upgraded duplicates and ranked those up while still having my 300 damage originals. Luckily, I kept both the Ice Breaker and Mythoclast to do this, but I wish I could have done it with my Patience and Time and Bad Juju exotics as well. I am fortunate that I kept the ones that I did, but I feel bad for the others who may now have to restart their exotics and dismantled all of their duplicates. TL;DR: Bungie's timing between patch and the report of exchanging exotics caused players to dismantle duplicates when they could have exchanged them and kept their upgraded ones as well. Exotic Shards used on exotics are for nothing now.
