Instead of the current inventory system, since we do not have enough vault space, there should be a new implementation of your inventory for end game players.
Specifically, say you hover over your primary weapon slot, instead of folding out 9 slots to choose from, it would fold out a slot for each rarity of item you have in a row, so to the left of your equipped weapon, exotics, then legendary, then blue, etc. assuming you have at least one of that rarity.
And from there a 3x3 grid pops up, allowing you to carry more.
This is more specifically for armor than weapons, as I'm assuming people will want to have all exotic armor, and one set of each raid gear with them as much as possibly, which will fill up their storage quickly.
If it seems a bit ridiculous to implement this on the guardian, since it would increase storage significantly, then somehow implement a similar idea in the vault.
Also possibly, an option to just sync your weapons between characters, if you so choose, after a certain point. I don't have the vault space to switch the weapons I want between my characters. I have to actually make 2 trips with each character to switch weapons I need the most each time I switch characters.
Not necessarily start this after light level 28+, but at some point to indicate you're in the post game, and will need the storage space.
