So if I bought the Ghost edition on 360, I don't get the free upgrade? I have to go buy another copy of the game? Even though I already paid $150 for it once thinking I'd get a free upgrade like the guys at GameStop told me....? Wow.

I just upgraded to Xbox One last month. I had the CD so I had to buy Destiny again. All characters and stats carried over, no problem. I also had the DLC expansion pass and I did NOT have to buy it again. I did lose some shaders and the red Sparrow I got for buying it at GameStop. Didn't care about that, just waited for the sparrow you get with the DLC. It was explained to me that the reason is if you have a CD, you can sell it or trade it in. I did this at gamestop along with about 20 other 360 games! :(-

I'm in the same boat dude. It looks like the answer is "no - you're an idiot for buying a retail copy". Additionally, it's not even clear what will happen to my character if I was to go ahead and pay for another copy for xbox one. Am I expected to level to 30 again? Does my stuff carry over? What's the deal? This seem slike the sort of information that should be on an FAQ bungie should have. Get it together guys.

The disc version is not eligible for the free upgrade program. Only if you bought the digital version on the PS3 or 360 would you be able to get it free for the PS4 or Xbox 1. My suggestion is trade your disc copy in and exchange it for console currency. Then pay the difference to obtain the digital copy thus allowing you to get it free on the next gen console. In the long run you will be paying less out of pocket and still have the game on both consoles.

I'm trying to figure it out too. This is all the help page has to offer. http://www.bungie.net/en/Help/Article/12122 It looks like if you buy the DLC you will be able to get the Xbox One version free, but it says nothing explicitly about what to do for the disk version.
