So, do most of you with Fatebringer use the explosive rounds?
I just fully upgraded my Fatebringer, and I have been playing around with the explosive rounds. It seems that on a single target, the damage remains the same, just split. I have noticed that it cancels out the Firefly explosion if the precise shot damage is not enough to kill, even when the explosive splash finishes them off. I assume that the explosive rounds have the ability to splash on nearby enemies, but I haven't seen it yet, even with tight packs of thralls.
I'm new to the gun, so if anyone has a little more insight to this, I'd enjoy hearing it.

I stick to Field Scout in PvE ( 116 total rounds with my gear), and go Explosive Rounds in PVP
-
Explosive rounds are somewhat worthwhile in the IB, but otherwise I've found them to be more of a nuisance than anything otherwise
-
In my experience on gheleons demise (same set up. Explosive firefly) Dmg done to wiz shield 305 stagger, 303+105 explosive 905 prec, 605prec+303 explosive Explosive gives more dmg for non crit hits, same dmg for crit hits but less chance to proc firefly
-
I don't bother with the explosive rounds, Firefly is more than enough to destroy the enemies around the target. I easily solo right side of the Templar with my fatebringer on hard mode due to Firefly freeing up the rest of my squad to do as they need for the team. I use Field Scout because the Single Point Sling is useless and its always nice to have some extra ammo.
-
Explosive rounds seem to dissipate the dmg in a larger area. I dont like them.
-
I don't it seemed that my accuracy was off and the perk that causes them to explode didn't work after that, so I took them off and since then there's been no problem
-
Someone posted on this... Somewhere. Maybe not this board. The explosive rounds split damage somehow, meaning you will always do less damage to single enemies. You have to get at least 2 in a group to make it worthwhile. The firefly problem is related to the damage split. Your physical damage does like 60% of the damage and the splash does the rest. It seems like it calculates second, so even a precision won't work unless the precision damage kills. You're better of just sticking to firefly, I think.
-
Explosive rounds are flashy but it's skews precision hits and the explosive damage is 30% from the full hit and then that's split among effected enemies. I'd do the field scout...especially with raid gear
-
Works for me...sometimes destroys 2 extra enemies.
-
I use field scout, after the last update that nerfed thorn, felt like they changed the difficulty of headshots with firefly and how enemies explodes
-
Explosive rounds are the worst, prefer single point sling so I can whip out my secondary faster to take down enemies.
-
I tried it, and it seemed it was messing with my precision kills. So I went back to the field scout perk.
-
I use it because field scout only adds one round, and it seems like kind of a waste to do so. And the other perk escapes my mind at the moment...I hadn't really noticed what you're talking about, but I'll have to pay attention next time I play. I may roll with field scout if damage is getting cut.

I just use max ammo capacity on mine
-
Not same damage a precision shot with maxed out FB IS 1505 roughly. When I have explosive rounds on and hit critical I get 1005 critical and 1005 explosive (on one target)
-
Yes and I've been noticing that you can hit non critical spots and although you don't get yellow numbers, it still does normal critical damage.
-
It brings the Crit down. But it's still a great gun.
-
They ruin Crit damage as far as I'm aware.
-
In pvp explosive rounds can really be disorienting.
-
I use field scout because I go through ammo like crazy and sometimes you just can't find any primary ammo in the hard raid.
-
When i compared damage numbers on a boss the explosion from the round did another 120 damage more, than just a plain bullet. As for crits, if you finish them off firefly still activates and then you have double explosions. Ill have to compare crit damage on normal enemies
-
Explosive rounds is great if you know how to use it.
-
Single point sling for that quick strafe
-
No I don't because it usually takes the kill which doesn't cause the enemy to explode on crit kill which does much more damage than the explosive rounds to surrounding enemies
-
I liked them at first but I realized that even if you kill an enemy with a crit shot and the explosive part of the round gets the kill the firefly explosion doesn't activate which is actual bonus aoe damage. Getting more firefly activations >> explosive rounds.

Explosive rounds used to be beastly in PvP but now not so much use the field scout I think it carries 117 rounds with it
