My Iron Banner 2.0 Review from a PVP Noob

I give it a 9/10, not that my opinion really matters...but I had a ton of fun and got some great stuff. I avoided the first Iron Banner like the plague, and after reading about all the issues with the level advantages and what not, I had no interest in doing it. However after looking at the gear this time, and the bounties, seeing that I could finally get some boots that were +30 light, I decided to grind it out. Starting from IB rep 0, I went about my task. I started seeing people get purple hand cannons and machine guns after each match, and even a ship! By day 2 I was almost ready to buy my boots, but I went on. By day 3 after getting better at Control and finding myself on some good teams, I reached level 5. I was so proud of myself....hanging in there with the toughest of the tough. I got my ass kicked but I also kicked ass. I ended up with the IB boots, the hand cannon, the machine gun, and I purchased the fusion rifle. I even reset the stats on my machine gun to my liking. The only, only thing that I didn't like about the Iron Banner 2.0 was: 1. I didn't have enough time to level up my other characters!!! Can't wait till it comes back and 2. I would really, really liked to have bought that ship. Even if I had to get to IB Rank 6 and spend 15000 glimmer I still think I would have bought that ship. Yes its ugly, but I wanted it and could not get it to drop for me. In all I would say it was definitely a great experience, coming from someone who is mostly PVE, I had some fun and got some great stuff. I want to thank my SUROS, my Supremacy, and my Titans hulk smash. A big F-U to all hunters with blade dancer and self rezzing warlocks, you guys are a pain in the ass!!!

  • I mostly agree. I think this incarnation of IB is what the Crucible just ought to be all the time (plus way more types of objectives games). The most frustrating thing about IB is the fairly tight 7 day time limit to get the rewards (aka fix the stupid RNG bs from the raid). I had to stop playing the parts of Destiny I enjoy the most just to grind the IB. The artificial scheduling and rarity of the events has nothing to do with game balance and pretty much everything to do with transparent psychological manipulation of the players.
