I have decided to make this thread as a way to help those who are stuck on the Thorn Bounty, aka Light in the Dark. I have seen countless posts on this forums and others with people getting stuck on one of the last two parts: 500 Void Kills or Kill Xyor, the Unwed. The information I am about to present, is primarily for Hunters, but doesn't mean it couldn't help Warlocks or Titans, just keep in mind certain abilities you won't have access to. Let's start with the biggest hurdle for most, 500 Void kills in the Crucible. For this step you are going to need 2 things, obviously a Void base Secondary and Heavy. Hunters do not get access to Void grenades or specials, so this part is even harder. Here are a few points to keep in mind. 1.) Secondary: Shotgun, Fusion Rifle, or Sniper. You have to choose which of these work for you. Even though I don't like shotguns (in-game and real life), they worked wonders for me. My buddy used a Sniper Rifle to get this part done. 2.) Heavy: Rockets or LMGs. Once again, go with what works for you. Though I find the quick guaranteed kill of Rockets to be better. If you can, always use a two shot Rocket Launcher. 3.) Clash and Control are going to be your favored game modes for this part. I preferred Clash (didn't have to worry about objectives). Stay near teammates and help them, in return they will help you. 4.) This is NOT COD. I repeat, the Crucible is NOT COD. DO NOT go run and gun willy-nilly out in the open. Stick to closed areas where you have cover and avoid the center when you can. 5.) Take your time. During this portion of the bounty, you do not need to be the top of your team, nor do you need the most kills. Remember every Void kill you gain 5 points, but every death you lose 2. Also, do not be afraid to use your Super or primary weapon to avoid death. 6.) For the Hunters, play like you are the Predator from the movies of the same name. If you have it unlocked, use your invisibility perks and sneak up on your prey. 7.) Finally, just shoot for at least to break even on your K/D ratio. Even if for every Void kill you get killed, you still gain 3 points. Now, for the last part: Kill Xyor, the Unwed. I'm not going to lie, this part is hard. The Pits summon many knights and wizards that are all shielded. Of course, the Knights are Arc shielded and the Wizards are Solar. If you choose not to use the cheese strategy, than get a good fireteam and keep at it. As the Hunter use your Invisibility to revive teammates undisturbed. Xyor will appear in the 3rd or 4th wave (Tomb Ship drops), which means you have to keep clearing out all the regular guys, while avoiding Phogoth. And yes, you have to release him to get the waves to start. If you choose to use the cheese strategy, where you hide out in the first room, as I did, than keep these things in mind. Occasionally a Shrieker will spawn in that room and all the knights and wizards will run into that room as well. Once the shrieker leaves, they will teleport out. You can kill them, but the shrieker will respawn every so often. What my team did was, send someone out to clean up some of the regulars and than run back into the room to lure in the knights and wizards. You can retreat one room back from this one, but if you go any further, Hps will reset for the enemies. Basically, keep killing the smaller guys and avoiding Phogoth and eventually, your target will appear. She's a normal Wizard. Kill her and than you can leave. you don't have to kill Phogoth if you don't want. Also, anyone can kill her. Any further questions, please feel free to ask. Or if any additional advise, please post. I know these parts can be frustrating for Hunters more so than others.
