mind=blown
After 3 years of total neglect, laziness, and preoccupation (playing all the other Halo games of course), I've finally taken the time to get this game.
And it was worth it.
Even before I started the Campaign, the UI has caught my attention. This is how Reach and H4 ought to have been!
Now for the gameplay. I liked how we could have optional waypoints, they weren't too intruding or lacking. The map was a really good idea, though I'm still getting used to it. VISR is kick-ass, hard to believe H4's VISR is an upgrade. The enemies are a lot more harder than I remembered. Compared to other Halo games, this one actually makes it look like there has been a war/skirmishes. Playing as an ODST sure has it's perks (weaker melees, supreme starting weapons, Brute plasma rifle, distinct crouch walk, awkward grenade toss, having a face in Firefight, faster animations, big FoV) It really feels different, in a good way (I used to be under the impression that they were just reskinned Spartans).
Yep, I think I'm going to be playing this for a long time.
TLDR: It feels like a new Halo game! Or, at least, more polished than H4.

I spent many MANY nights with the lights off, just patrolling New Mombasa and cleaning the streets of Covenant. Love that pistol.
