Destiny against the casual gamer?

Is Bungie against the casual gamer? Many of my friends do not have the time it takes to devote to this game in order to get the best gear. My friends do not have the time to grind gear or take advantage of events. The time it takes to get a legendary now, especially for a lower level is somewhat ridiculous. Sure you can get legendary faster when you are a higher level but it still takes time to get there and get the legendary in order to possibly be high enough of a level to work towards more legendary armor or weapons at an accelerated rate. Bungie seems to also highly promote Crucible and Iron banner in order to get better gear as well, but again time is an issue here as well. Another issue is many players do not like the pvp of this game and are either forced to play crucible or suffer a lower level. Iron banner for some is a nightmare to play whether it be skill or amount of time you need to play it. I gave up even trying to go for rank 4 for the armor because i have at most 15 total hours to play this week. The last thing i want to do is make a job of this game and play something i hate. Finally the other way to get good gear is the raid. It was hard for me to even play the raid once since it is hard to get 5 other player on my friends list at one time and able to put forth enough time to the raid itself. Sure i could go online and try to find groups but in my experience most of the community only wants "the best" or specific classes or levels. So again the lower levels or casual gamers are put out into the cold. Bungie wants to create a community but at every turn they crush it. Match us up with people in Weekly strikes, Night falls, and Raid. This will help build a community. I am not going to add people i do not know to my friends list whos soul purpose is to only play a raid and just use me to do it. If players are good or even fun on the raids or what ever then i will add them and build up my friends list. In the end casual gamers are being turned off from the game and the serious ones stay all due to an apparent relation between time and skill and level. It is easy to get to the level 20-23 area but after that it is a huge grind to get to 25+. I have lost 4 of my friends to other games that are more rewarding to their play style. I have also seen that of the original 6million players that started at launch it is now at about 3.2million. With the average person only played a total of 21 times.

  • It really doesn't cater to the hardcore gamer, really. Sure, we get stuff faster, but they nerf and pull everything back for the sake of casual to lesser players. Their lag comp and the recent patches are proof of that.
