The patch broke the game for Solo players
So I don't mind getting rid of the the exploitable spots. I kinda thought they were cheats anyway, I shouldn't have been able to solo the Nightfall Priest on my lvl 25 Titan. Fair enough, take that away. But not being able to solo it on level 22 as the weekly with my 29 hunter because DREGS take me out? That just isn't right. Don't get me wrong, I like that there are more Enemies in the patrol areas and more public events, all that is cool, but why did they have to make it harder for people like me to achieve things by themselves? I would love it if I had the time and energy to put together a well organized and well oiled machine to take on Aetheon multiple times a week, but I don't. I'm lucky if I can get into a pug, just don't have the time to organize. I like to come home after a hard day of work, pick up some bounties, and complete them with some scotch. Occasionally group up with my one friend I've been playing these games with since 'Halo' came out for the original Xbox, and two man some strikes. Bungie, please take into consideration your adult players. The ones who have the money to buy all the DLC's if they want to continue to play.
tl;dr : Does anyone feel that the solo game is broken after the patch? I can't be the only one.

3 RepliesThanks for the informative post. I am a solo player who stopped playing Destiny a few weeks ago. I played mostly Crucible because I found strikes boring and repetitive, I quit because the Crucible gave out hardly any ascendant materials which made it impossible to upgrade my armor and reach level 30. Sounds like solo players are even worse off now if they've made it harder to get materials by soloing the daily and weekly. Guess there's no reason for me to come back. I've learned my lesson and will skip the DLC. Destiny 2 won't get my money either unless I read several reviews that confirm that the game is friendlier for solo players and also supports matchmaking for all game modes including the raids, dalies, weeklies, and story missions. I will also need to read in those reviews that Destiny 2 has a compelling and engaging story, and that there is a handy Codex avalable in the game menu that contains all of the Grimoire lore, and you can also easily access gameplay stats in the game menu. I am not holding out much hope, but maybe they will learn from the many, many mistakes of Destiny 1.

Point of clarification on the above post. I don't care at all if the exploitable point in the Archon Priest strike is closed up. I do care that the amount of enemies and their health and shields have been buffed for single players from what they were pre-patch. I also don't have a problem with match-making or playing with strangers, but that option isn't built in for weekly and nightfal, so in order for players like me to do them, we solo. Add match-making on those two points or don't make the solo so OP and I'd be happy. (Though, there are other players who would still be rightfully upset because they prefer to play solo. The game was sold to us under the auspices that we would have the choice, it shouldn't be taken away.) I hope this clears things up.

Ii can still solo the nightfalls. Just play it strategically. Or get better internet. Either or would help :)

1 ReplyI don't think they increased the difficulty at all. No, I didn't solo mine this week, I went in alone and another 1 or 2 joined as I was going. The enemies didn't seem any harder than usual, on a couple (I ran 2 nf and 2 weekly) I didn't die at all.

1 ReplyI soloed the weekly on lvl 28 with my lvl 28 Hunter just last night. The patch didn't affect me in the least. What is killing you is that this weekly has ARC burn on and Fallen pretty much all use ARC weapons. So yes you are going to be taking a lot more damage from them than you normally would. Use cover and use ARC weapons and you'll get through it just fine. Even if you play solo.

4 RepliesI soloed nightfall this week with my warlock and hunter. Soloed weekly heroic with my warlock and Titan. All without cheesing. It can still be done u just have be much more cautious and patient. Sepiks is definitely easier than priest but they can be done.

1 Replyyou are right i cant beat a lvl 22 strike with my lvl 28 hunter solo when i used to beat lvl 28 strikes. it took time but was doable now dregs are deadly on lvl 22 weekly. bungie is doing everything they can to make people not want to play this game. seriously i love the concept of this game but since the last patch i really have started considering getting rid of it. bungie you are taking the fun out of this game and if a game isn't fun what reason is there to play it.

12 RepliesI have 4 kids a job and a needy wife. I play 40 min to an hour a day on weekdays and 2-4 hours a day on weekends and I have 2 29's and a 28. This game is NOT a life sucker. I solo'd last nights nightfall with a 28 warlock man. Just take your time.

Too often the casual players are overlooked because of the vocal minorities that are able to make themselves heard on the forums and through the channels Bungie tunes in to. However the casual majority has an amazingly important impact on the economic success of any game. Although it may make some parts of the game too easy for the ultra hardcore player that had maxed every weapon and run every strike hundreds of times, it should be achievable for Joe everyman sitting down after a long day in the job.

Honestly I think people need to get better nothing about this weeks nightfall is hard... Equipt the proper weapons and go kick ass solo or with a group... Destiny is a lot easier than I thought it would be if anyone needs help message me gt same as on here I'm on both Xbox consoles

It's the ark burn modifier this week and the fact that the Fallen use mostly ark damage weapons that make this weeks weekly a tad more challenging.

1 ReplyAgreed. I work, have a family (BTW I'm the only gamer in the family [I'm 44]) and I, too, solo everything. Not because I want to, but the real world takes more of my time than the gaming world. Will I purchase the DLC? if I see the trend of solo disadvantages continue then no.

4 RepliesI'm sorry but this game was designed to be a cooperative game hence the always online connection requirement. I get people have busy lives but how busy can you be to not be able to add a few friends and play for an hour or two
