Add Materials to patrols as rewards.

I know a lot of people are fed up with grinding for materials such as Spirit bloom etc but yet still do the daily bounties, I had an idea about adding materials as a reward alongside reputation for doing patrols , this would remedy this issue. Give a like for Bungie to see otherwise we won't get any feed back on this idea. Bonus check out my armour skins collection idea: http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/78113555/0/0/1

Agreed. Also, they should drop in Crucible IMO. I like that you need certain materials to upgrade your weapons, giving you incentive to explore the planets and go on more adventures (rather than sitting in the Tower with nothing to do)... but most of my "adventuring" inevitably boils down to driving around, and opening lots of treasure chests. If I stop to do something more fun, like a patrol mission or public event, I feel punished for not spending that time grinding materials. I assume Bungie planned for players to vacuum a bunch of Bounties before heading out (like the "6 patrol missions" one) and farm materials on the side to keep things varied. But it doesn't always work out like that. In fact it rarely does (for me anyway). So yeah, I'd like to be rewarded with materials for completing Patrol Missions, Public Events, Bounties and Strikes.

  • HAHAHHA this is great! you think bungie gives a shit about what we post? Don't worry, they are gonna look at your post and say, "I think I know what he wants more than he does. Here's a ghost skin if you preordered." -blam!- YOU BUNGIE

  • All of my yes. Really, grinding at the moment feels more like a punishing chore... it's just not fun! Even if we were just rewarded one or two upgrade materials per patrol mission, it would make upgrading my gear far more bearable. I also agree with others' thoughts on upgrade materials being rewarded in other events such as crucible, strike, raid, missions, etc.

  • I think it would also be sweet if enemies had a small chance to drop mats when killed.

  • If you don't know where to go, yes, farming is a pain, but it's really not an issue. 30 minutes gets an easy 200 spirit blooms if you know where to go.

    • Very early on I noticed in the Legend (on the character page - advisors) that listed something in the next closest "bonuses" similar to this. One of the bonuses was to complete a total of 50 Kill Target patrols. The tooltip seemed to indicate that one would start receiving the planet's material from the bounties in addition to the rep as you suggest. And one day, it was gone. The grimoire card no longer had a bonus to it, and I never got a chance to see if it was what I was thinking, since I was short about 20 Kill Targets. I think this would be a nice little addition. Maybe make it drop the same as if you had looted a node on the planet; 1 or 2 drop for each patrol completed. Even if you don't stop at every node, you at least get something for going to the planet.

    • I would like them to implement yet another way to get materials namely item dismanteling. We have 5 tiers of items: white, green, blue, purple and yellow. Dismantleing a white item only gives glimmer. Dismantleing a green item gives glimmer and one base material (weapon parts/armor parts). Dismantleing a blue item currently gives the same as a green item only you get a little more of both. Dismantleing a purple item gives glimmer, base materials and ascended materials. Dismantleing a yellow item currently gives the same as a purple item. I would make it that blue items additionally provides 1-3 collectable materials of one sort at random, a purple 3-5 and a yellow 5-7. That would increase the flow by a lot and also would spare the PvP players from having to do too much patroling - I'm a PvE-only player but I think every player should be allowed to play only what he/she/it wants to play.

      • During the Beta they gave 10-12 materiel for completing an assassination mission during patrol. I don't know why they don't just add this back in. Make it less for other patrol missions, 2-5 wouldn't be a bad prize for the others and go back to the 10-12 for the assassinations. It would give way more incentive to do the scouting and scan missions.........

      • Much needed. It's sucks almost all the weapons require spin metal and you find that on the lowest level planet. I'd like to explore Venus and mars more but spirit bloom is super easy to find (this is a good thing) and i dont need iron as much so I don't find myself going back much. Cuz lets face it. If I'm gonna do patrols its probly cuz I need materials.

          • If I remember right, upgrade materials like Spirit Bloom were rewards for patrol missions in the alpha or beta, maybe both. However, since the patch, spawns seem MUCH more frequent, even for Relic Iron which was one of the most difficult resources for me to find.
