Destiny is becoming a part time job.

Have to put in your time in the fields pickin' bloom for the man. So tired of it. It's ridiculous.

  • Have you noticed spirit blooms look like cotton? Maybe this is a way to try and enslave the fans

    • Right now, once we complete the "end game," all we have to do is farm Strikes, check our success with loot caves, dredge though the patrols to gain rep, or spend time in a multiplayer shoot out. On top of that, it's ONLY to acquire better gear-much of which ends up being dismantled. Now, while I don't mind hunting and gathering on the limited worlds that Bungie has created for us, it gets pretty tedious. And while I manage to enjoy getting merch'd by players (who's characters haven't made it off of Earth in the story line) in the crucible, I think there could be a way to offer a bit more incentive. My proposal? A Scavenger game option for Crucible, where the focus is gathering Relic, Helium, Spirit Bloom, and Spinmetal in their respected environments-all while you fend off other Guardians. The materials should spawn randomly and inconsistently to ward off the temptation to camp. Also incorporate chest that hold Harmonic Essence and Weapons Parts, with the OCCASIONAL Ascendent Materials. Let's face it, Destiny feels extremely repetitive with limited excitement in replay value as a new character. If all our time logged in is spent trying to upgrade our Legendaries or Exotics, at least maximize our ability to do so. You (Bungie) don't allow us FULL maps to explore and gather materials, at least let us have a chance to harvest them while we spend hours in the crucible cue.

      • I think they should have a delivery ship that has lits of materials on and spawns as a public event, the aim is to stop a convoy of vehicles before they arrive at the ship. If you stop it you get a share of the materials. If you don't ... Unlucky. Think convoy on socom 3

      • It would be so good if there was a merchant in the tower who sold the materials required to upgrade equipment. It would save up so much time.

        • I agree. For me it's helium farming. They're promising that materials gathering or economics is going to involve less farming and more playing, and I can't wait. While I agree that MMOs involve farming, there's a lot of things that can be done in Destiny to make it less tedious: 1) Every mission, event, etc., should reward you with the materials from that planet. No more empty boxes in the summary screen! 2) Dismantling anything should result in something. Right now, you put a lot of stuff into something and you get only parts or armor stuff out, and way less than you put in. We must be really lousy dismantlers as guardians, because it looks like we do the job with a hammer from the results we get. 3) Glimmer should let you buy any materials and anything should be capable of being sold for marks or glimmer. This is a common aspect of MMOs -- selling your stuff after a mission at the various vendors and receiving a common currency which can then be used to buy other things. I'm OK with the marks concept, but glimmer needs to be way more useful than it is right now. Making the economic system more efficient isn't taking away the farming aspect of Destiny -- it's just letting us decide just what type of farming we want to do, instead of being forced to run around looking in caves for loot chests.

I've played many mmo's but I think guild wars 2 has the best concept of material farming...granted they have a crafting system so it's much more elaborate but there are many people who enjoy farming materials in many types of games...you wouldn't have FarmVille and clash of clans if that we're not true... Point being that in guild wars they give you exp...a decent decent amount of it for every material you farm and there are players who's sole gameplay experience may very well boil down to running around and farming... I've said it before in posts but if they just adopted an exp boost to each material node and chest you pick up they would have a lot less posts of people complaining about the time being spent...some would say wasted... I personally accept it and conform because I like gearing up my equipment and seeing the progression Actually if they just had a consumable item that you can get off of higher level enemies from strikes and raids as well as from crucible...ex : house banners and ether seeds that gave you a 30min buff to get exp from each material farmed

                • Its kinda strange. When i need materials i usually dread farming for it. Then 30 minutes later, im like "ONE MORE CHEST DAMMIT"! I almost get addicted to it. Always looking for the "good" chests and then im done.

                  • Idk man. This is a social awakening. lol People say there should be more drops cause they want everything. Then when Bungie makes it rain, everyone is tired of farming to upgrade them. Then when the Craptarch does a better job of decoding people complain about others not working hard enough for their stuff. Then Bungie puts Xur in the tower and people complain about what he's selling. Shit makes my head hurt. Where's Dr Phil when you need him?!

                    • The sad part is... That's kinda true. In addition to the grind for materials (which feels like work): We do the weekly heroic strike, and get payed strange coins.
