By now, quite a few of us know from the grimoire that Kabr was the guardian who is responsible for the creation of the relic in the Vault of Glass. He ventured in with his fireteam, and all but him were erased from existence. The relic was created so that future guardians could survive the vault and not be lost to the dark corners of time.
Now, in the grimoire, Kabr says "The next time I speak it will not be me" (or something close to that, I'm writing this at work).
Theory 1: Kabr is the relic, and he speaks to you in the Vault
When you gain the "Time's Vengeance" buff, you'll notice you get a message on your screen in the lower left that reads:
Guardians make their own fate
I believe this is Kabr speaking to you from beyond and saying basically, Finish what I started, you must make your own destiny
We also know that Kabr's Light was essentially transmitted into what is now the relic. And this makes total sense with what I have mentioned thus far. Kabr is the relic. The relic tells you, Guardians make their own fate. Remember, "the next time I speak, it will not be me". The relic is speaking to you, and although it is not literally Kabr, it is Kabr.
Theory 2: Xur is Kabr
Ok, I know this may be farfetched, especially since I said Kabr is the relic, but how could he also be Xur?
Well if Kabr's Light was expended in order to create relic, we might say the very essence of who Kabr is, his Light, then it is possible his physical form, if we follow this theory, was an empty shell of what it was.
Look at Xur, he has a face of Darkness. Yet he is not evil, he is here to help Guardians. I won't really touch on his relations with The Nine, only to say that perhaps the Nine somehow intervened to save Kabr's body from the Vault. After all, depending on which version of the Nine is true, they are omnipotent beings of sorts.
Also look at a few of Xur's quotes:
--"I think it is very possible that I am here to help you.
--"I do not entirely control my movements."
--"Some of the cells in this body began on this world, how strange to return."
--"If I am here, it is The Nine who sent me."
--"My will is not my own."
-- "There is something inside me that wishes to connect."
As you can see these quotes relate in that Xur is both aware and unaware of his existence. He knows he exists, but does not know what for. He is there for a purpose, but he is not in control. This all ties in to the fact that Kabr lost his essence when creating the relic, therefore, he would have no memory or sense of who he was, but a shell without light, darkness, would remain.
That is why I think Xur is Kabr
I don't want to address the Nine's involvement with Kabr if this were true, as I do not know enough yet to make a decent speculation.
I may be totally wrong, but thank you for taking the time to read this. I would love to hear your theories or if you have anything to add or edit on mine.
EDIT: I realized that Xur actually wears all three class items, being, a cloak, bond, and titan mark. Possible they represent the members of his fireteam?....

If Kabr is Xur... Then anyone who uses the relic is a dirty filthy casual Xurner! You didn't earn that relic, scrubs!!!
-
Could he be Osiris?
-
I think it was meant to imply that Kbar was absorbed into the vex "network" or what ever it's called somehow.
-
Not to rain on your parade. But Kabr did not have a fireteam. He even says he went in alone.
-
Kabr is the voice in Super Good Advice. Dont believe me.... Read the SGA Grimour
-
I thought bungie already confirmed that xur wasn't kabr.
-
This makes my head hurt.
-
No Xur is not badass like Kabr. Xur can't kill a gorgon with his fists. ( something us Titans really need to learn how to.)
-
Kabr was a Titan. Xur doesn't look like a titan
-
-
Xur is too skinny to be Kabr
-
Kabr went through the raid by himself. But he was not alone.
-
Plot twist!
i am kabr!
-
Kabr is probably the most intriguing lore character in Destiny. Screw the rest of them.
-
Kabr is a G

Edited by Chroniclerope: 12/4/2014 3:26:43 PMRemember, Kabr said "if I speak again, my words will not be my own." Meaning that he made a deal with the nine so he could make the relic. Then the nine took his body for their own.

Xur is DEFINITELY Toland, I read it somewhere else but it was a damn good theory. I wish i could post it
-
Actually pretty well thought out. My reaction after reading this post (see above).
-
This was neat, I like that Xur idea. It's also cool you got paid for this!
-
Really good theory , but judging on the lack of story in this game , i would think bungie didnt give a damn about thinking this far
-
This...this is the kind of post I like to see in the forums! This is why I browse through these, to hear plot theories, gameplay tips, and funny adventure stories. Thank you comrade, I find your theory incredibly interesting and would be interested to learn the truth!

Pretty cool man. The idea that Xûr may be Kabr is pretty cool to think about. It makes sense if u read Xurs quotes an listen to him in the tower. Good job!

Edited by TalliiFennec: 12/4/2014 6:45:14 PMGreat theory, thanks for posting! Also, why do people feel the need to complain so much? Geez. Sure, the theory doesn't match up with all of the evidence, doesn't mean it's not still fun to think about.

Maybe This "Lone Guardians" story... Seems complex but actual it's all just bullshit because in 10 years of making Destiny Bungie could not come up with a real story...but it does look like they are trying. 60$ D1+ 40$ DLC + $60 D2 = we may have enough to make some sense of all this. High hopes!!!

Not the wildest theory i've heard on here. Actually could be true. The only downside is that this 'massive secret' that people think is still hidden in the raid, could just be another opportunity to buy voidfang vestments.

Just stop
