Dear Bungie: The less we have to come to bungie.net, the better.
[b]Update:[/b] Now that DeeJ has responded, this post might get more visibility so I want to make one thing very clear: I am not trashing bungie.net as a website. For what it offers this site is excellent. I am merely suggesting a few things that could improve the in-game experience. This site should be a compliment to the game, not a replacement for certain things.
In another post I saw Deej asking if it would be helpful to have a Raid LFG forum here on Bungie.net
To be honest, it might be somewhat helpful, but it would be largely pointless for what most people would find most convenient. The problem is that taking people out of the game to go to a website is inconvenient and should be unnecessary. The more things that are available on bungie.net that are also available in the game, the better.
[b]Looking for groups: [/b]In-game chat would solve this in a hurry. Most MMOs have multiple chat channels, including a channel for people to find groups to do raids/dungeons. It's worth noting that if you're THAT worried about spam, just give people a setting to mute some or all chat channels. Problem solved.
[b]Grimoire:[/b] You know that big bookshelf next to the Speaker? How about turning that into an actual library that allows us to read the Grimoire cards. The content of the cards is actually very interesting, but because it's not in the game most people don't ever bother to read them. Considering most of Destiny's story is in those cards, you might want to put them in a place where it's more convenient for people to read them.
[b]Clans:[/b] Why on earth is the only benefit of being in a clan nothing more than a tag when you're actually in the game? Clans need their own tab in the game menu, much like the Roster tab. Isn't the point of clans to get together more easily with other guardians and play Destiny? Why have clans at all if there's little to no integration of that feature in the game itself? This would greatly help problem number 1 (the looking for group issue) because if I needed a few people for a Raid I could just pop open the Clan tab in the game and say "oh hey, there are 26 clan members online" and send VoG invites without any fuss. Beyond that, the ability to join and invite people to clans in game would be great (again, the ability to mute all clan invites for people who don't want to be bothered is a must).
[b]Faction reputation: [/b]Unless I'm already in the Tower, the fastest way to check faction rep is to open the mobile app. Again, this should be it's own tab in the game's menu system just like the clan tab should be. If I'm putzing around the Cosmodrome and want to check my Vanguard rep I should be able to open the menu and see it right there.
There may be more but these are the big ones that I can think of right now.
[b]TL;DR:[/b] Add better functionality for in-game LFG, Grimoire, Clans, and the ability to check all faction rep quickly and easily.

Clan functionality and Grimoire information are the main things I'd like to see implemented "in the game". Faction rep is a minor annoyance, but not that important. As far as looking for groups, just having proximity chat in the Tower could help with that. A better idea I think though for an LFG feature would be to let a party that is in orbit with a mission selected to send out a "ping" request for people for that mission. Other gamers in orbit could receive those ping requests and if they want, answer them. You could even implement some minimum threshold filters, such as levels or class. It would be minimally invasive on the user experience, and you could even give an option to not show them.

Well, I think they could do it, but DeeJ's reply says it all. If you're going to use up memory for displaying some of the data in our menus, it'll take away from what they can use for other ideas.

2 RepliesLooking for groups, in game chat? You have at most 16 players at the max. That's it. Do you feel lucky? The game needs a solid, system wide party finder board or menu. Text based. We post just like here or like in Destinylfg. All players on your system that are in the game. They can read it. They can join up. Chat will not put a dent in LFG.

Could not have said it better myself. In-game communication would make this game MUCH easier, especially when it comes finding help for the daily or a pick-up group for the weekly or nightfall. It'd be nice to have in-game access to a clan roster too. Throwing together a 6 man VoG team would happen quicker and easier. Being limited in methods of communication in a game that is basically a MMO is absurd. I don't care if you have to take up another 30gb of my precious PS4 hard drive space, implement these things Bungie!

Whats the point of these simple fixes. If at its core the game lacks any sort of coherent story. Why even have a faction to begin with if all the items they give you are replaced by raid items. Why spend 3 weeks farming rep if you can simply raid and get better loot. Why even do Crucible if raid loot gives more light. Geez, these are fundemental things broken with your game Bungie.

Chat channels is an excellent idea. Being able to jump on the "raid" channel in the tower would mitigate most grouping problems.
