Angel of Light - underappreciated (Warlock Sungsinger)

After realizing how much I enjoyed my (Voidwalker) Warlock, I was amazed to find out that the Sunsinger subclass would turn out to be even more amazing. However, one little thing that I noticed is how so many people prefer that extra grenade - or that extra DoT burn effect. They're both very beneficial. But what about Angel of Light? Although passable when compared to the extra "physical" damage dealing subclasses, AoL has way more potential than people realize. Tactics like doing a double jump, then gliding and aiming down the sights, has me killing enemies faster, and safer, than the other choices. What's really useful is floating, completely dodging attacks and views, and then following it up with grenade or heavy weapon. It helps to give you a diagonal, steady, precise shot. As an extra bonus, it gives you greater terrain area to aim within. When melee enemies are after you, and you're floating above them, picking them off headshot by headshot, it puts a different spin on the feel of this game's playstyles. Of course, you can't forget enemies that take a bit to aim at you before launching their linear rockets - hover for their aim; drop to attack. What about you? Do you mainly use it or think it's worthless; have you given it a fair try? Which vertically-last Sungsinger subclass branch do you prefer? - aClicheName

  • I actually loved using Angel of Light before I started using the Explosion walker (voidwalker). It's extremely useful if used properly for pve. Essentially, jump up and hang in the air while you get a shot lined up with a target behind cover, then take the shot. Now then, that's great and all, but why do that when I can bloom everything out of existence with voidwalker? Well, it also has some very useful advantages when it comes to avoiding sniper fire. Hang in the air until the snipers finish charging their shots, then fall to the ground, scope in, and take out the sniper. Once again though, you can blink as a voidwalker and then line up a shot after the bullet passed where you just were. Not really making the best cases for AoL, but it still is a really fun perk to use, if only to just hang in the air for a few seconds.

  • Just added some more examples. Who else has (or hasn't!) given this subclass spec some effort?

  • Here's hoping that more people become aware of its potential so we can see just how far it can be pushed.

          • I love Angel of Light in PvE. In PvP, because how open some of the maps are, is just giving someone else a free kill more often than not.

On maps with any decent amount of open space, staying in the air to long is just gonna get you killed.
