The solution is simple. The tower has a gunsmith and we all have thousands of parts. You know what else we have? All of those dumb ass consumables NO ONE PHUCKING USES. We are maxed out on glimmer so let's repurpose some of this trash.
You go to the gunsmith to make a gun that you want with abilities you can choose. But we are going to have to be smart about this. So here's a quick break down:
Weapon forge: Able to make rare and legendary weapons. 50 weapon parts for rare, 200 parts for legendary (why so high? Avoid using it as an exploit to farm energy) AND 2-6 ascendant energy. Forged weapons will not have elemental damage. In order to choose abilities, the player must collect and offer materials such as axiomatic beads, blue polyphage etc. Standard upgrades remain random, but unique upgrades (such as kills generate ammo in the magazine etc.) can be chosen based on materials offered in given amounts. Base stats can also be manipulated based on a point allocation system.
For example, the devil you know (legendary hand cannon), has x amount of impact, reload speed and so on. Increasing statistics during the forge process requires the player to choose which stats are most important to their play style. Unique upgrades will be tiered. More desirable upgrades will cost more.
Pre-existing weapons can also be reforged at the risk of them being destroyed altogether.
