Anyone else feels that the defender's bubble shield is lacking in PvP (it good in PvE)?
How many times has it been set up just for someone on the other team to use their Super and take it down (along with you and anyone else in the bubble) in one shot right away.
I'm not saying that this shouldn't be the case, but that it should cancel out any area effect that may have appeared after.
Example: Striker's Electric Discharge. Bubble should go but the discharge sparks should not happen as the void bubble absorbed it.
Example: Warlock's Nova Bomb. Should destroy the bubble but have no after void effects (which if you're at the centre of kill pretty much instantly).
Also that it should require a bit more fire power to take down.
Example. Rockets. I would say possibly 2 or 3 shots instead of one to knock down the bubble.
And that some supers should be repelled off the bubble unless activated inside of it.
Example. Striker.
Example. Hunter's. Blade Dancer
In these cases if it's activated outside the bubble they should do damage to the bubble first to take it down before moving onto the guardians inside. But if they time it right and activate it inside the bubble. Fun times all around. Defenders have a chance to defend attackers have a chance to attack.
My reasoning for all of this? To encourage team play. The enemies team would have to prepare for the intense firefight once the Bubble is down. Same for the defenders.
OK I've rambled enough bump if you agree. Comment why you disagree. Go somewhere else if you're just going to be mean and not contribute.

Yeah 1 super shouldn't take it down. As it stands it's just a super attractor

Its ironic how i got blinded inside my own bubble when a titan with the exotic helmet that has the perk to blind came inside
-
A lot of ppl in pvp make the mistake of putting the shield on top of the control point. That's why the enemy has no fear of jumping in and shooting their super or grenade. A better way to use the shield is to slap on the blinding effect and put the shield up in a hallway leading up to the control point. The thin hallway leading up to the B point in Bastion is a perfect example. Put the shield in the hallway to block the enemy. If they run through the shield, they will be blinded and easy to pick off. And if they destroy the shield with rockets or supers, then they used up their ammo/super and can not use it on you.

I disagree in pvp you can use the overshield buff to win melee fights by running in and out of the bubble also it is a good defense for capturing zones
-
In PvP the bubble is a target. They get obliterated seconds after they drop it. I love being an orb factory, but defender in PvP is just asking for trouble. I'm sure there are some that can do well, but personally, the only titan I'm sending into the crucible is a striker.

Edited by Pabs: 11/16/2014 1:02:11 PMTL; DR I don't have a problem with the Titan Bubble as is, BUT if I were to fix anything it would only make it so it completely cancels Nova Bomb and that is the only change I think it needs. Let me start off by saying that I believe that I play better with my Defender Titan setup than with my Striker. If I may even go so far to say that I do better with my Titan in general than my Warlock. I think the bubble works pretty good as is. There are enough idiots that just walk right in to either get shot gunned or throat punched. You just have to play poker with it. You need to "count the cards". If you haven't heard or seen that warlock use his Nova Bomb lately the dropping that bubble shield might not be worth it. Then again in the long run, maybe getting him to use it on one player only is a good trade off. However, if there was ever to be an adjustment we need to consider a Few things. Sunsinger - Self Rez - Passively Counters all other Supers because you can come back to life after being killed by them. Sunsinger - Other Choices - Counters absolutely nothing Super but passive bonuses apply to standard things. Warlock - Nova Bomb - Will kill aggressively during others Supers Hunter - Blade Dancer - Aggressively counters all supers (accept maybe Titan during Fist of Havok, haven't seen that happen) Can one shot you. But does not one shot me in my bubble (with my setup) usually it actually launches me far out of the bubble (must be a glitch) Hunter - Golden Gun - Can One Shot During others Supers But 3 shots to a Bubbled Titan Titan - Fist of Havok - Will aggressively counter all other supers. Titan - Bubble - Causes Golden Gun to use 3 shots, but doesn't completely counter. With the right setup can prevent Blade Dancer from killing you. Doesn't counter Fist of Havok, however with FoH you basically jump right into the bubble so this is fair to me. Has no real effect on Sunsinger accept you will just kill him again inside your bubble. Nova Bomb. . . .yeah good luck surviving that.

Eh think of it this way striker is pvp and defender is pve
-
I love my titans bubble in PvE but I cant stand playing crucible with my titan because its my only super he has lol
-
Yeah but there's no intense firefight when a sunsinger activates radiance. He just kills someone and it wears off.
-
You should be able to shoot enemies through the bubble. As it stands it's either a bit sh1t or annoying.Lost track of how many times I'm shooting something only to have the bubble thrown up around me impeding rather than aiding me.That or you're standing almost comedically impotent and inert in your bubble as opponents (sometimes metaphorically) wave tauntingly at you from outside.
-
how do you use the titan shield? I completely forgot.
-
I would just just want it to where enemies can't enter it.

Edited by TOKYODISNE: 11/5/2014 11:02:46 PMTitans have to work literally twice as hard in the crucible to fight against classes that overall better. Ward of dawn, the light against which darkness breaks, acts as nothing but a distraction. A stagnant, penetrable distraction. Easily broken and abused. It'd be nice if wod traveled with us considering anyone can hop in! A whole skill tree rendered useless forcing titans to hunt opponents that can constantly see you with no stealth. It takes skill for titans to succeed in the crucible. Target practice for a warlock, and hunters godforsaken dreamtheatre. Making wod mobile, or an actual shield would be nice. One of the two, because the lack of a ranged titan super attack in addition to this disappointing defensive mod has titans feeling the difference in power as it pertains to super abilities in the crucible.
-
You're forgetting about a key point to the Defender subclass. Something so underestimated and yet it's likely the most powerful thing in pvp. And that's the Suppressor Grenade. With this grenade you can neutralize all abilities for 10 seconds. That's melee, grenades, and yes even supers. And if there is a Hunter with Arc Blade or Golden Gun it turns it off. That's enough to protect your own shield and shut them down. However it only has a 7 meter radius and a fuse time that just let's arc blade users just ignore it and walk right on by. If anything needs a buff it's this grenade in radius and shorter fuse time.
-
Or. Just don't camp your bubble so hard. Top Titan defenders DONT sit inside their bubble waiting for people to walk in it.
-
I play as a Bladedancer and i completely agree. Almost everytime I've challenged the defender class, I've won (using my super). Not because of skill but because it seems a little under powered in comparison. If it were balanced, i should have lost by now, but considering i haven't, i refuse to believe it's because I'm that Good.

An eye for an eye, a super for a super. For being a super focused around defense and only defense you think you would be more safe around the bubble. You realize quickly that most of the times that isn't the case. That if you were a Striker maybe you could have killed those three people walking into the room, most of them ready to pull out their super too, instead of creating a bubble that had been torn apart by some Warlock's Nova Bomb. The Bubble isn't bad, it's a very situation tool. It can be countered too easily for being a defensive super leading to a lot more deaths than needed to be.
-
We should be able to shoot out of the bubble. It'd make it actually worthwhile to use, then.
-
So much for indestructible.
-
Yea I don't like your idea. If you want supers to be stuck out of it whomever entered it should be stuck inside. Even the team that dropped it. So you can have your control point we'll go get the other 2 while you're stuck
-
It's fun killing the bubble with 2 golden shots, and the Titan in it with the third.
-
Not having those problems with my bubble. In fact I find it very usefull and with many advantages. Bubble + shield, everyone entering can almost be declared dead, of course if isn't a full team. Bubble + power, enter bubble get extra power for weapon and attack. And there are another few tips, You can't expect your bubble to survive in an all open area. Bubbles in the open are just to take a little break and recover, refill clip, change weapon, enter in a stand by status while team support you, etc. Be creative, man. It's also oportunity, don't know for sure, but I think if enemies are in range at activating bubble the recieve some damage.
-
We should be able to collapse the bubble, killing or damaging enemies inside. For example if another titan rushes you, gets in the shield to fire off a fist of havoc. We could jump out, trap him inside and collapse the shield, killing him.
-
I totally agree with you!! And they should put that, you can shoot people outside inside the bubble
-
I figure it's good that a person would waste their super just to kill 1 Titan in a bubble better than them using it to kill 2-3 peeps with it plus if you're quick enough with the void sticky grenade can usually get a postmortem kill on the person that used a super. So evens it out
