Cosmetic items should be treated as unlocks

This is something that has bothered me more and more as my vault space has filled up, and that is why are cosmetic items treated on the same level of armor or weapons? Pretty much any of the options from the lower section of the character menu should have it's own tab, where each object can have a list of those unlocks always available to the player. These cosmetics should be bound to the character, or possibly even the account as whole so your alts could use them as well, as long as they met the level and class requirements for them. In case you aren't aware, the items I'm referring to are ships, shaders, emblems, ghost shells, Sparrows, and even the class items. - Ships - As I've seen pointed out in the past, right now ships are pretty useless aside from being a selectable loading screen icon, so why can't we collect them if we so desired. When I started playing I wanted to collect all the Kestrel-class ships because I thought they had the best design of all the ships in my opinion. But with the limited slots on a character and in the vault, that would fill up fast, especially since you can sometimes get ships as rewards. There should be an icon you can click that would open a list of all the ships you have unlocked, organized from Exotic to Common. and with the preview icon so you can have an idea of what kind of ship it is before selecting or getting the full preview. - Shaders - One complaint I've seen several times is that there is no real customization for our characters. Once you get up to a certain level, all the gear is the same because there isn't much available at the higher level. One thing that can kind of help with this are the shaders, but even then they are so limiting. Plus, I've received the Achilles shader about 5 times in the Crucible when it should have just be once, unlocked, and then that RNG reward could be changed to something like a strange coin to put in its place. Like I've stated with the ships, the shaders should be a part of an ever growing list, allowing players the freedom to be any they so wish, as opposed to only the nine they can have at a time. It would also be nice if we could create our own shaders, possibly make that another use for Eva Levante, to purchase a custom shader. Though, maybe make the custom shaders a matte color and the rewarded ones shiny to show the difference. Also, she needs to rotate her shaders at some point. Note: It would be nice if there was a way preview a shader on our character, whether it be from a vendor, or on another player. Let us get a preview to see if it is something we want to work for. - Emblems - This one seems like one of the silliest to have as an item rather than an unlock. Rather than having new emblems unlock as you progress through the game, similar to some of the Halo games, they are something else treated like an item that takes up space. And if there continue to be Queen's Bounty and Iron Banner type-events where you need the emblems and shaders to complete bounties, then at some point that would be all players would have. It should be just another listed cosmetic unlock, sorted Exotic to Common, with event specific emblems moved to the top during the events for easier access. - Ghost Shells - Except for the shell that came with the Ghost edition, I haven't seen any other variants aside from the dead ghost you find in the game. You would think the would be a bit more common like everything else, or at least be tied to story progression. If these do get added in at some point, they should be handled as unlocks as with the other items. - Sparrows - With the stats in the descriptions, you'd think that there would me more involved with the Sparrows, such as races or something, but unfortunately they are pretty much all the same recolored vehicles to help you blow past areas that you have retread a hundred times over. I feel these should be handled like the mounts in another game Activision is close to, WoW. Where in they are part of a list that you unlock through purchasing them from a vendor or a game reward. Hopefully in time we'll actually get new vehicles that aren't just recolors as well. It could also be set up so the upgrades from Xur are handled as unlocks as well, so the mod you choose will be activated and applied to any of the compatible vehicles, those being rare or higher Sparrows for now. - Class Items - At the moment, class items are categorized under armor, which I feel is a waste. Aside from a couple that change who you gain rep to, or for a couple event bounties, Class Items offer no benefits for them to be included as armor. If some wished to collect them all, their inventory would be full quickly, especially as it fills up the armor side of your vault. It's also disappointing much of the time when the engram you got during that boss fight turns out to be a class item. Because it is probably one you've received dozens of times before, and it doesn't matter if it is a level 1 or a level 20, it will be the exact same at any level. Class items should just be handled like all the other cosmetics I listed, as an unlockable list, with your unlocks organized from Exotic to Common, event class items moved to the top during events, and class engrams should just change to something else if you have it, those being strange coins or upgrade materials. So what do you guys think?
