Fusion rifles... again.

Everyone, their mother, and even their dog uses fusion rifles now. When Bungie nerfed the Mythoclast, they also nerfed shotguns' range. Now, I don't quite mind the shotgun nerf, but I do mind that they completely ignored the much larger issue: fusion rifles. On my last post, most people said "Shut up, Meg" or something stupid that resembled "Just avoid them." I hate that calling attention to a legitimate issue in this game that I paid money for is being treated this way. Fusion rifles are absolute bull shit and thousands of others see what I do. I use hand cannons. I use my environment, I keep my distance, I watch my radar, etc. etc. etc. I'm not new to this; I've been playing Halo since CE was released, folks. I'm not new to FPS multiplayer. I don't just charge at everyone, guns blazing. Hand cannons in PVP are typically three headshots/four bodyshots per kill. Fusion rifles may have charge times, which their users try so hard to use in their defense, but these charge times may just as well be removed entirely. No matter how accurate I may be with my Fatebringer, far too often does a fusion rifle literally charge and one-shot-kill me before my third shot can be sent. This goes without even mentioning the pre-charging people do with fusion rifles that makes charge times a nonexistent factor. With pre-charging, I actually have fusion rifles outgun my Corrective Measure LMG. That's heavy ammo, people. No, I don't mean from close range, either. I mean mid range, sometimes even long range somehow. It seems like fusion rifles are absolutely unpredictable. Far, far too often do I start up PVP matches and see people running around with only a fusion rifle, easily chaining kills and rising to the top. Fusion rifles make it far too easy, but the people who use them refuse to admit it. "Just avoid them" they say. There's no avoiding fusion rifles, guys. Like I said, I'm not new to this. I don't just run in like a blind fool. I don't just charge all of my enemies with a damn shotgun. Fusion riflers pre-charge, but, even when they don't, far too often will a fusion rifle be able to charge and kill before the majority of weapons out there can with maximum accuracy and precision. People usually just say something like "You can use them, too." Well, why should I? If I notice something is OP, why should I exploit it myself? That's selfish and disrespectful to other players. The game is no fun when everyone helps disrupt the balance by exploiting issues. When every gametype in Destiny PVP becomes Fusion Rifle Deathmatch, the fun is dead and gone. When skill is almost irrelevant because one weapon class outguns the rest, the fun is dead and gone. Fusion rifles need a complete rework by the dev. team. No, I don't hold all of the answers. No, I'm not just sitting here screaming, "NERF THEM! NERF!" I'm saying that we have a legitimate issue on our hands with fusion rifles and people need to address it. You don't have to know how to blow up a meteor to see that it's coming towards us. To those who will reply to this with something resembling "Shut up, Meg": Thanks for contributing absolutely nothing to this game or community. I paid money for this. I expect it to be fun. I don't need you selfishly ruining everyone else's gaming experience to enhance your own.

  • I'll put it this way. I'm a decent PvP player, I get over a 1.0 most games. I usually go with a HC/Shotgun/Heavy Machine Gun in the Crucible. I had to use a Fusion Rifle(Light/Beware with void damage) for the Thorn bounty, and, after some adjusting my playstyle and learning to use a FR, I started doing really well. Fusion Rifles are not that hard to use one you get the hang of it and can be deadly, sometimes even from long range. I think it is overpowered at this point considering shotguns and auto rifles both received a range nerf.

  • I agree with you . All i hear these days are those fusion rifles charging all over the map. they require no skill and the distance they can 1 shot you from makes other guns obsolete. i think the game is pretty balanced overall aside from fusion rifles. once they fix them crucibles will be a better place .. range needs to be dropped a bit and charge time probably has to be increased a tad.

    • Instead of requesting that everything be nerfed to the point that a gust of wind would do more damage to everything in the game than a gun, take one of two approaches- "If everything is overpowered, nothing is"- instead of requesting nerfs to everything that is believed to be too strong, request buffs to the things that are too weak, ask for titans to be bulkier or hand cannons to do extra damage at close range. Take a step back - everything in this game has it's use- Titans are predominantly PVE classes Hunters are predominantly PVP classes Warlocks are all rounders Exotics are meant to be powerful.

          • If you have a hand cannon and you die to a fusion rifle user, you are too close to the fusion rifle user. Stay in your gun's effective range. Stay out of the fusion rifle's range (which is pretty damn short for a 1HK). Problem solved.

            • 100% agree. I also use handcannons, but this is irrelevant. You could use any other gun, and the Fusion Rifle still gets you first. I'm not usually someone to complain or call for 'nerfs', but I feel this gun has something a bit extra. There are people with over 5,000 kills with this gun, and less than 50 with anything and everything else. People that run around with one on every single game, and finish near the top. It's just a bit peculiar, and usually when everyone uses the same thing, it means that it's broken. People love cheapness, and easy ways to be victorious.

              • Compared to a shotgun.. at least you have to aim a fusion rifle and track your target, while trying to strafe and not die. Shotgun is just running and shooting.

              • Reduce special ammo respawns, fixes all specials and prevents people from using fusion over their primary. Anyone who argues against it is a primary fusion rifle nerd who needs it to have a positive k/d

              • its not the weapons, its the maps. The maps cater to close/mid range combat and there are 3 weapons that cater to close/mid range combat: shotgun, fusion rifle and AR. Even with the new release of maps two will be close/mid range. Bungie is encouraging the use of these weapons heavily based on the maps they have created and people are responding. You also need to account for the heap tons of lag that are present in PvP making you not as good as you think.

                • Fusion rifles are not OP, at least not more OP than the other special weapons. The problem is that for all intents and purposes there's no difference between your special and your primary in crucible because there's so much ammo. Special weapons need to be treated like the power weapons that they are, and the availability of special ammo needs to be taken down considerably. And you should respawn without special ammo. Then if you get sniped you can go kill that person and know that they won't just go back and start sniping again. Same with fusion rifles and shotguns. I love destiny PvP but with so many powerful options (heavy ammo, supers, vehicles, grenades, specials) we need to make room for primary weapons to shine as well.

                • The real issue is the are so small that Fusions ate a 1 hit kill almost. When first light is on (being played) the fusion rifle drops out of the picture unless you are in close against the red team.

                • Getting killed by fusion rifles can be a pretty frustrating way to die and depending on the group you're playing against it can seem like it's all anyone uses. Not every game is like that and implying otherwise isn't telling the whole story. There are many games where I rarely see fusion rifles where like-minded guardians choose other weapons like a shotgun or sniper rifle. People forget that--by some miracle--Bungie has made a game where everyone can have power weapons all the time and still have a pretty awesome multiplayer experience. It's a pretty amazing feat really so I'll give credit where credit is due on that front. The current culture of nerf everything that kills me in PvP is walking Destiny down a dangerous path and the last thing we should want is for the balance team to make weapons that should be powerful useless (I'm looking at you Mythoclast). There are countless complaints daily about certain guns along with cries for nerfs to supers, grenades, shotguns and everything in between. This forum is inundated with constant negativity and it detracts from any sense of community trying to be built here. I think it's more important to look at the things that you can control and look to altering your own play and accepting the game for what it is. It's not fusion rifles keeping your K/D where it is, it's you. I know 'cause I'm right there beside you. There are so many things that I can change about my own play that will make me better. I'll work on those first and only then will I worry about whether or not fusion rifles are overpowered.

                • You're not the only one who paid for this game. We love fusion rifles. Hell, I could play with 90% of the weapons on here and still have a respectable score. NERFING IS KILLING THE ENJOYMENT OF THIS GAME. This isn't Halo.

                  • Special ammo needs to be made much more scarce in PvP anyway. That would go a long way to help with the shotgun and fusion rifle issues.

                  • Teamwork kills all. If a fusion rifle user fights more than 1v1 they are going to lose every time.

                    • Great how constructive some people here are, instead of offering solutions calling OP nasty things and... Ah, whatever, we know the community already well enough, don't we? (^_-) It's actually not a balance issue - the FRs do what they were designed for. The problem is that they do it so often. People have said that from the very beginning, those vast amounts of secondary ammo are complete BS. They have to reduced drastically, which would fix the problems without nerfing guns.
