So I just got AW annnnnnnnnnnd.....
Coming from a loyal COD guy man AW just feels different..... its not like the past COD games..... how does this tie into destiny u may ask? Destiny is such a step above mechanic wise its crazy.... (shooting.. moving...melee) destiny has really set the bar....and this is coming from a COD fanboy loyalist and all that... I put the game down to watch walking dead just thought I would give you guys the heads up.... Be happy there is a Destiny, yeah I know it has its problems, yeah I know it has its glitches, but its the best FPS out right now.....
PS ... no emotion or bias was felt in writing this OP.... just a rational emotionless view on playing AW for an hour or so

2 RepliesCoD is built on a competitive multiplayer model so it's hard to compare. But from playing a few hours last night of AW, it's clear that Destiny has a greater fun factor. CoD is the same model where they have a short story mode and the rest is MP. In CoD the gear you get is merely for cosmetics while in Destiny the gear actually has an effect on your player, so customization actually means something. Also with the talent tree for the player and weapons, the customization options are essentially endless, while everyone runs around with the AK-12 in CoD at the moment. Although we complain about RNGesus, after re-experiencing the progression system in CoD, I would rather leave it up to chance (I got a Plan C from a Tiger Strike last night and have been gifted tons of NM gear without ever going into Crucible and earning marks) and get a pleasant surprise once in a while rather than grind my butt off to unlock weapons in CoD. Ghosts had it right with getting rid of level unlocks. After playing some AW, I decided to go into Patrol to do some farming and it was a very enjoyable experience seeing the more vibrant environment than the sterile, plastic one that's in AW. I would say CoD or Halo would provide a better competitive FPS than Destiny; but overall, Destiny has more value due to its PvE and customization options.

128 RepliesI've played a LOT of COD, too. Spent some time with CODAW over the weekend. I didn't mind the slower, clunkier feel of the Exo sandbox. These are dudes in mechanical suits. They're not gliding on magic. Interesting observations, though. Glad you like Destiny.

That's what I thought when I first played AW but I gave it more time and it grew on me. Now I enjoy it just as much as the other cods. Although I could see what your saying about it feeling different. I'd probably give it more time and see if you still feel the same.

Glad I rented it. I have bought every COD game since COD 2 and find this one to be dull. I likely won't be buying this one as I just can't get into it.

I'm glad it's different.Even though it's the usual twitch shooter,at least they changed some stuff instead of the usual COD.Double jump,etc.

1 ReplyI've been enjoying AW. It feels like Black Ops in multiplayer, and the story mode is good...just like the other COD games. Been bouncing back and forth between AW and Destiny. I've hit a wall on destiny due to no matchmaking for weekly and daily's...or raid. Just not a fan of having to go on a forum to find people to play with...so I'm pretty burned out and bored with Destiny right now.

I like the new feel of it. The whole point was for it to be different, and that's what it feels like. Different. Saying that, I did swap to destiny to play a bit to do some bounties. I'm telling you, going from 60FPS to 30FPS is hard on your eyes XD

I'd say the weakest aspect of AW is definitely the map design. If they are going to add this huge increase of mobility with the exo suits, there needs to be larger maps to compensate. If they fix that (which they probably won't), then the game would be MUCH better. As is, the multiplayer is just... meh ... I'm honestly surprised how AW is getting better reviews than Destiny.

I fking HATE CoD and ignore this POS every year. Wouldn't play it even if i was payed to do so but saying that controls/gunplay/mobility is bad in CoD is just dumb. If there's one thing that doesn't suck in this shitty franchise its controls

After about three hours of playing AW I was so frustrated with the insanely low TTK and constant camping that returning to Destiny to finish off the PvP portion of my second Thorn bounty was refreshing. Destiny has a lot of problems, very little PvP variety, and it's share of balancing issues; but in terms of gun play and map design it is brilliant, while CoD is still a twitchy fight to see who can shoot first and hide the best.

Had fun first night with it.. Went back to playing destiny... Campaign looked awesome then I went into mp for awhile... Graphics really got turned down... It's fun to pick up and play from time to time but appears to still have that shit p2p.. Host advantage stuff going on.. Aw has more camping then any cod I've ever played. And wtf did they put the speech indicator right in the damn middle of the screen ??? Wtf ?? New radar is bad, hard to read. But... It's 60 fps with colorblind assist :)

Played COD for the first time and it felt chaotic. It's fun but felt very chaotic. People spawning randomly everywhere. I had a guy spawn in front of me 3 seconds after I spawned. Sometimes I spawned right behind someone from the enemy team or vice versa. This makes me look behind my shoulder so often, it's funny. Doesn't matter where you shoot, you always kill people in like 1-2 seconds, maybe even quicker. Maybe I'm getting lucky shots but others are killing me very quick too (not headshots). Thanks to this, I can take out 4-5 guys without reloading my weapons. Something I can never do in Destiny with rifles. Hip fire is so powerful at short mid range. Why bother aiming down the sight? Once you're hit, you flinch and your aim is gone. So it boils down to who spots and shoots the other guy first. OHKO sniper rifle and pistol. Doesn't matter where you hit, one shot will kill you. How do you find more ammo in COD? You use up your ammo then you just run out and let others kill you? I know there's this scavenger perk, but is there any other way? I guess the game is balanced, since everyone is using all sorts of different AR and SMG, like the auto rifles in Destiny. Some uses the OHKO sniper rifle and pistol. Few uses shotgun. Rarely do I see a laser user. Besides these "new" experiences, I think it's a fun multiplayer game. I guess it's just something I have to get used to, like all new multiplayer games I played.

I was super excited about AW until I watched some live streams of its campaign Sunday and Monday. I don't think I'll be buying it. Now Destiny, on the other hand. Destiny I love. Can't wait to get home Thursday night and start my marathon session.

I went back to titanfall for a couple hours... It was like I became a coked up psycho. The movements are clunky but lightning fast. Didn't like it. Came back to destiny.
