21 "known" Exotic weapons but do they live up to their name and their one slot restriction?

1) Bad Juju 2) Pocket Infinity 3) Ice Breaker 4) The Last Word 5) Patience and Time 6) Plan C 7) Thorn 8) Invective 9) Suros Regime 10) Super Good Advice 11) Hard Light 12) Hawkmoon 13) Monte Carlo 14) Fate of all fools 15) MIDA Multi-Tool 16) Universal Remote 17) Truth 18) Red Death 19) Thunderlord 20) Gjallarhorn 21) Vex Mythoclast [url]http://destiny.wikia.com/wiki/Category:Exotic_Weapons?display=exhibition&sort=mostvisited[/url] Honestly only a hand full of these truly deserve the title and the one slot restriction. A few even deserve good quests in order to find/create/discover them. Some of them are so plain and bland that they could really be just plain old guns. The designs on most stand out and look very cool as well as sound pretty nice but again, does that justify their title? IMO.... The Last Word, Hawkmoon, Pocket Infinity, Vex Mythoclast, Ice Breaker, Gjallarhorn, Plan C, Suros Regime and Patience and Time are the only guns that have earned their titles as exotics as far as perks go. These guns are very good and deserve to have a one slot restriction plus quests to obtain them. In the looks department.. Ice Breaker, Monte Carlo, Pocket Infinity, Vex Mythoclast, Gjallarhorn, Bad Juju, Plan C and Thorn kinda shine above the rest and LOOK Exotic. In the Sound department (a really lacking area in the game when it comes to weapons), Super Good Advice, Ice Breaker, The Last Word and Invective all fit the bill for Exotics. The devs really missed the mark with most of the Exotics IMO. MANY MANY legendary weapons are as good if not better and have zero restrictions. This simply should not be the case on a class of weapon that is supposed to be a tier above legendary and that you can only carry one of at a time. Add to that some of them require very difficult chores in order to have them. As always I'll offer some solutions that I believe would greatly help these weapons and future ones. NUMBER ONE. All exotic primary's should have some sort of burn (Arc, Solar, Void). The burn could be random just like they have done with all the other guns in the game. EX: one suros has arc and another has void randomly. For those that say this makes raid weapons useless i say you are mistaken greatly. The perks on the raid weapons are to kill raid specialty enemies quickly or a chance to drop orbs for killing them (oracles/pathoreons). That's a raid perk that SHOULD stay only with raid weapons not the BURN feature i'm requesting. NUMBER TWO. All exotics should have unique sounds like ice breaker and super good advice. NUMBER THREE. All exotics should have great perks like the hawkmoon and plan c. There are far too many exotics that have rare weapon perks but just a different look. NUMBER FOUR. If you are going to give exotics KINETIC as a feature it needs to be added as a legit BURN otherwise lose it as it doesn't hurt NPCs any worse than weapons that don't have it on. NUMBER 5. More blinking lights and moving parts on exotics like Bad Juju and Thunderlord NUMBER 6. For heavens sake DO NOT use regular weapons models and add different paint like Red Death and Suros and Thunderlord. I know each of them have some minor tweeks like the bayonet and colored HUD but the entire frame is still just the regular AR in disguise. Any thoughts from the community? 1) looks good plays bad. 2) love it on fire shielded enemies 3) love it against anything. one of the few they got right 4) another one they did right and its super fun to use on top of that 5) being invis helps on both PVE and PVP and stability is nice 6) so fast on the switch. other than that its just meh 7) looks great sounds ok, DOT is super duper weak.. 8) 4 rounds? or 3 ass energy? you be the judge 9) gotta love this gun. i never get health back though 10) sounds amazing but honestly, every other LMG is better. even green ones. Give this gun one mag of 200, bump its stability a bit and return ALL missed rounds not just most and then you have something to talk about. 11) sounds and looks AWESOME, moe like throwing glow sticks at people which is sad. its one of the few weapons in the game that DOESN'T shoot regular bullets at folks and it isn't satisfying at all to play with. plus the rounds can kill you if they bounce back and hit you. WTH lol 12) PS4 yep and its awesomesauce 13) PS4 yep but i would much rather it have better stability and have actual perks. damage gives back nades? damage gives back super? that would make up for the crappy stability and would truly make it exotic 14) have no clue but i hope that one guy is enjoying it 15) scout will be scout. wish it had better perks. chained exploding enemies like "bloom" on the warlock would be geat 16) as is its wack but if it were to shoot buck/bird from the hip and slug when aiming OMGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG this thing would be amazeballs 17) design needs a rework and rocket trail needs to be changed to like green or blue. also change the sound of the fire 18) health needs to be returned from damage not just kills. other than that this one is ok 19) this should shoot more lightning rounds and should chain lightning to nearby mobs 20) wonderful and doesnt need a change 21) pump it back up in PVE leave it as is in PVP

  • 1) Bad Juju - I just got it (post dlc). It's ok so far. 2) Pocket Infinity - no real use, just hogs a slot 3) Ice Breaker - Can't get this darn thing 4) The Last Word - It's kinda fun and looks really cool but is overall worthless 5) Patience and Time - Roughly the equivalent of the Epitaph from the Vanguard. Solid rifle. 6) Plan C - I like it. I like it a lot. And I hate fusion rifles 7) Thorn - Can't get the bounty for it. Grrr 8) Invective - Can't get the bounty... Still have little (to no) use for shotguns 9) Suros Regime - Can't get this one either 10) Super Good Advice - I'll have two of these on Friday, one pre dlc, one post. They're both gonna suck. I hate it. 11) Hard Light - Don't have it. 12) Hawkmoon - Solid hand cannon. Looks and sounds awesome. Not the most practical but it's fun 13) Monte Carlo - Don't have it 14) Fate of all fools - Nobody has it 15) MIDA Multi-Tool - Solid scout rifle that works well. Matched by nearly any legendary tho 16) Universal Remote - Don't have it, don't want it. Shotguns suck 17) Truth - Don't have it. Want it. Bad 18) Red Death - Don't have it. Want it. Bad 19) Thunderlord - Don't have i.....seeing a trend here? 20) Gjallarhorn - Do I need to type it in again?? 21) Vex Mythoclast - I have it. I love it. It's a horrid gas hog tho. Runs out of ammo INSTANTLY but it's fun to use.

      • I only have 2 of them (one being the bad juju, stashed that after 10 minutes). I wouldn't mind seeing exotic weapons doing damage a touch above what a legendary can do. You wouldn't need much, just include another upgraded damage slot to be able to upgrade it to say 325 damage instead of 300 (the same could be applied to armor defense for exotic armors). I think it's make people rely on and fully upgrade some of the lesser used exotics as more of an endgame weapon.

      • Hawkmoon. It's the [i]only[/i] gun I use continously, which is an exotic that feels [i]and[/i] behaves exotic. It's like a weapon of light, dealing massive damage. We've compared and it's likely on par with Fatebringer and Timur's Lash, but when that perk hits in (3x per mag) it transforms to something higher. It makes you feel like a holy warrior. It's like a crossover between a Desert Eagle and a demonslayer of some sort. Now, theres rumors of a extended perktree for all exotics - and if this is true, Im really curious on how Hawkmoon will develop. I hope it will be a customizable option, like adding Arc damage to it or AP rounds. Holy shit that would be rad.

        • Pocket Infinity is actually pretty bad. Three round burst and the two extra shots do reduced damage. The perks on the gun are a joke. The only real choice is stability. Also the gun only performs well in the Crucible and only on certain maps (Firebase Delphi etc). In PvE it's not worth the slot because of the slow charge time and small clip.

          • 1) Bad Juju - I have had this thing for a long time, but I haven't taken much time to use it, so no opinion 2) Pocket Infinity - Really powerful before the nerf, still fun and fairly powerful after it 3) Ice Breaker - My personal favorite, even with that recoil. So used to it that switching to other snipers actually becomes a detriment 4) The Last Word - Fun cowboy gun, but I find myself firing a single shot at a time as the auto fire makes it jump around like crazy 5) Patience and Time - Fun for anyone who isn't an invis Bladedancer, but otherwise a powerful arc sniper rifle 6) Plan C - Good god, this thing has taken me through many things that have arc burn, as well as Firebase Delphi matches 7) Thorn - A decent hit and run weapon, though the nerf on it's DoT sucks 8) Invective - Ammo regen is always a plus, and it's auto fire is a bit more effective than TLW when close enough, since it's a shotty 9) Suros Regime - Pretty damn powerful, but can still be overcome by many other things 10) Super Good Advice - I have yet to unlock it's special ability, but until then, the accuracy is insanely low 11) Hard Light - A fun and decent weapon in both PVE and PVP. Sure, there's better, but I hate AR's but love the Hard Light, it's not the worst 12) Hawkmoon - I'm on Xbox, so I won't have an opinion on this or the Monte Carlo for a year, which is stupid as hell 13) Monte Carlo - ^^ 14) Fate of all fools - Only one person has it, but it looks... awkward with it's clip size 15) MIDA Multi-Tool - A very underwhelming weapon, which sucks because I like Scout Rifles 16) Universal Remote - A very fun, but very impractical as it has just as much ammo as a normal shotgun 17) Truth - A decent lock on launcher 18) Red Death - I actually kind of like this gun, even though I'm not a PR person, it's ability is pretty good in a lot of PVE settings 19) Thunderlord - Don't have this yet 20) Gjallarhorn - Same as Thunderlord 21) Vex Mythoclast - Without the accuracy bonus, I don't like this gun, and even with it, I still don't as it fires like a SR, but isn't one, so it doesn't benefit from all my SR perks. Still quite powerful and somewhat fun though.

            • First of all I wanna say that some exotic weapons need to be handled differently, what makes there different isn't that half-assed design from reg guns but how the perks allow them to be used for example Bad juju-love it I can clear out weaker foes never have to reload in pve, quick reload and laser like fire makes it a great weapon for close quarters. For pvp it's most useful for iron banner as a headshot weapon, once maxed out if you get at least 3/4 of the clip in/near someone's head you have a full clip again which we all know is invaluable because reloading in pvp=death Thorn-it's only really "awesome" when you have the lingering effect(when it's not being bugged). For pve, awesome on bosses, fire some shots run away, or if your on the raid critical hit the vex hide let them die and repeat. It once did massive lingering damage in pvp so now I say it's not really worth it till they at least make it even(head shot, chest shot and anybody who's not using a super will linger away to oblivion) Red death-I call it my clutch weapon, when you kill people your health comes back up. Sure it's a AR soaked in blood....with a knife attached to it....yeaaaaa awesome. If you aim for the head most foes pve/pvp have no choice but to die and you walk away full of life and dreams while they're just dead Hawk moon!- let's be honest this weapon is OP like the impact is one thing but the random bullets that do extra damage make it unique on its own. And it looks awesome, it's more ideal for pve if you head shot everything, pvp it's more like a assist giving either to you or your team mates, the recoil is justified and that alone makes it unique. The last word-Texas, weapon was made to kill anything and anyone, I honestly have mixed feelings about that weapon I shouldn't do arc or burn or void it's too powerful as it is. Plan C- this weapon is on some type of drug because it's charge time is non existent, and it's arc damage just makes it pointless for anyone to have a shield, it gets its title from its range and impact and reload, no other weapon has all three of those. Pocket infinity- it's a cheese weapon that's either over used or under used, hard to control and will eat your ammo, worth the effort for when a big bad yellow enemy is in front of you and you don't want to die, pvp usage, it's still op but the charge is slower so it makes it a challenge. Vex M- weapon is just a god slayer to most, once upgraded everyone is your slave no need to go on Thunderlord- insulted by the design but in love with perks, if you shoot it right you have a laser of arc to sweep the field with, it's one of those weapons that can't be compared to anything else awesome for pvp for pve meh Mr. Sug Regime- is quite literally the best weapon for a head hunter, if you do body shots your gonna get a little vexed(lolz) great for pve but for fast paced pvp you might find yourself switching to shotgun mode all game Universal remote-Aka Titans right hand, shoulder charge with that bad boy and you'll see me quitting the game. Not much use for pve unless your farming or just feel like messing around. The range makes it not a shotgun but more like a slug gun. Truth!-dude it turns corners to hunt down its prey. Like that's it. Multi tool- at first may just be a fancy scout rifle but wait! It's just a fancy scout rifle that looks cool, I believe it's just a show weapon and it's worth the bragging rights but not much else. Ice breaker-only awesome because it ammo regen if it didn't have that we would all be rocking final boss. Pve yes pvp if your a highly skilled(or lucky) sniper yes that recoil tho. Patients and time-is the best sniper because it allows you to cloak, a cloaking Titan that snipes you from a mile away then smashes someone who's looking for him that got to close. Or your at the oracle check point and the harpees can't kill you because they can't see you, plus the recoil is so low you can snipe for days Gallahorn- or how ever you spell it, is another show weapon because some rocket launchers have at least one of its perks but not both. Great on atheon greater on pvp. The rest of the exotics I didn't list is because I honestly believe they aren't exotic, the look nice fire fast but where's the awesome bullets that track you, or explode on impact. But that's just my 2 cents forgive my grammar and typeos I'm only human(sadly)

              • Dude exotic doesn't mean better. It means rarer. I have many green weapons that are better in the crucible than most of my legendaries and exotics.

                    1) Bad Juju - Love it. Looks dope. Sounds dope. Feels dope. The upgrade can be a little glitchy but other than that, this is a solid pulse rifle. 2) Pocket Infinity - No words. Just mega pain on a loop. 3) Ice Breaker - Best sniper...love it so much. Wrecks pve. 4) The Last Word - Best. In. Game. 5) Patience and Time - Super excited about it, but not what I'm looking for in a sniper. Still, it's a great sniper and no legendary is above it. 6) Plan C - fun on a bun 7) Thorn - Second best in game. I am in love with this weapon. 8) Invective - pisses me off in crucible, but it's a pretty cool weapon. Have it, but no will to use it. 9) Suros Regime - broken in pvp, awesome in pve. 10) Super Good Advice - don't have it. 11) Hard Light - soooo much fun. Walk into room, pull trigger, clear room. 12) Hawkmoon - looooove the sound and feel. I always imagine I'm hunting werewolves or vampires when I use it XD (the twilight ones) 13) Monte Carlo - don't have it. 14) Fate of all fools - This is actually "The Stranger's Rifle" and it's the bottom line for leveling your character to 20. 15) MIDA Multi-Tool - haven't used it yet, just bought it last weekend. 16) Universal Remote - when shotguns in the crucible piss me off, I give them a little taste of ridiculous range ;) 17) Truth - the tracking and the feel is genius. Love how you'll hit your target no matter what. 18) Red Death - fun as shit. 19) Thunderlord - wish I had it :( 20) Gjallarhorn - Amazing. Highest dps heavy. If everyone has it and uses it on the raid bosses at once, you can down any boss in under a minute. 21) Vex Mythoclast - wish I had this, too :(

                    • I just want to throw it out there that "Exotic" does NOT mean rarer or better. All it means is that that particular gun has unique perks you will not find on any other weapons.

                          I agree, some of the exotics could use some rebalancing. One of them being the hard Light, it's my favorite gun but it could use a bit of a buff.

                        • I mentioned in a previous discussion that "exotic" doesn't mean "more powerful," it just means something about them is unique. I think the known exotics fit this rather well, each having a perk or combination of perks that are not found on any other gun. As for elemental damage, I don't feel the primaries need it. Or deserve it. Elemental damage is extraordinary damage, which makes sense to limit that trait to specials & heavies, where ammo is less common. It adds a specific challenge: how bad do I need to use this, and will I need it later? As for primaries w/ elemental damage earned in the raid, those are designed FOR the raid. That being said, I don't think even those should exist - bungie should've just made special & heavy weapons with raid advantages.

We're here to offer some advice: don't shard those guns. Their time will come."
