Bungie, save destiny with free DLC's

With December not very near, and a plethora of new games releasing within the next month, there are not many reasons to continue to play destiny. Your upcoming expansion appears to come with SOOOOOO little content, that I highly doubt anyone who hasn't made the mistake of pre ordering them will not be at all inclined to purchase ANY of them, myself included. Many of your gamers, loyal or not, have suggested "free DLC". And quite frankly, I believe it would inspire more people to buy your games. Here is a list of ideas I think could be easily implemented into your game that would boost the overall image of your game, and persuade people to continue playing, and persuade others to buy it: 1: Content. As of now, there is almost NO content. How and why did the human colonies colapse? Who are the Fallen, Hive, Vex, and Cabal? Where did they come from? Why are they just as inclined to fight each other as they are guardians? These questions could be answered with a handful of PVE missions with simple explanations from your ghost. You could change the intro to almost every mission and strike to include descriptions of WHY you are doing the missions, not just what you are doing. I have dug through the story missions, read all the grimoire cards, and still have NO idea what is actually going on. 2: Missions and Strikes. A new mission every week, and possibly a strike every month would quiet almost all of your customers. And I don't mean designing all new areas for these, you could easily throw all sorts of new missions strikes into the existing planets without needing much more than mob spawn points, a few bosses, and a phrase or two out of your ghost. Many of us, your customers, have been dying for more to do. And if we get bored, we will move on. I think this issue also bleeds into my next subject.... 3: Inform us about what's going on. This really isn't a DLC, but keeping everything so hush hush makes the majority of your customers feel like you don't care, at all. Deej takes SOOOOOOOOOO much guff from us, and from what we have seen, that is essentially the only reason he is here; to be your scapegoat. None of this is his fault at all, he is merely the link between you as a company and us as your customers. But gee whiz you guys, tell us what's going on. We just want to know that our voices are being heard, and that our money wasn't wasted. 4: Variety. There are so many suggestions on ideas that would give this game more flavor, two of my favorites involve the vehicles. Races could be implemented in both PVP and PVE, and quite easily I might add. The players in HALO 3 and it's predecessors used the forge to create whole new game modes that were adopted by the game. If 13 year old kids can do it, I am sure your developers can too. And the spaceships. Oooooh the spaceships. Using a "tethered space flight" mode, similar to games like Starfox, would add a whole new dimension to your game. And I know players like myself would LOVE such a thing. 5: Colors, shaders, paintjobs. It is absolutely ridiculous how limited our color options in this game are, and frankly quite embarrassing on bungies behalf. My Halo 1 character in offline mulitplayer had more color options than this game provides, and we are talking about an original xbox game. Possibly one of the First xbox games ever. You should be ashamed, and then remedy this issue almost instantly. 6: Guns. The fact that people hear the name "SUROS REGIME" and know exactly what it is, ugh. There should be hundreds and hundreds of guns in this game to chose from, and you wouldnt even have to design them, you could randomize gun creation, and give people the option of having a 100% unique gun. Here's how: Give each type of gun a "pick 10" option. Start by taking all of the gun perks and assigning them a certain point value. Then give certain perks a "rock, paper, scissors" approach, so you dont end up with a gun that has 3 or 4 of the exact same modifiers on it. Then take rares, make them a pick 12, legendary weapons pick 14, and exotics pick 20. Now by "pick 10" I dont mean players pick the modifiers, but let the loot randomizing action do it for you. Essentially you could combine some of the best parts of your competitors like borderlands and CoD and put your own twist to it. Now you have given yourself the opportunity to take customers from both those games, increasing your profits, and the lifespan of your company. In no way do I expect any of you at bungie to answer. I DO NOT expect Deej to answer, he is far too busy. But come on you guys! Keep us informed, and you will keep us as customers. Good luck Bungie. I sincerely hope this game ends up being what we all dreamed of, and not the beginning of the end of your business. As a loyal bungie customer up to this point, I can personally guarantee that if this game continues on like this, I will never purchase another bungie game, and I will make a mission of my own; to ensure that no one else buys games from you as well. I took the time to write this out, knowing full well that you wont read it, it would be 10 times easier to convince twitter, Facebook, reddit, and actual people to never purchase another of your products. A concerned customer.

  • Yea it insane $20 for dlc with 3 maps 1 strike and 1 raid I have the expansion pass but still and on top of that you have to buy comet ( it has a disc version) and you have to pay another $35 for the expansion pass for shit dlc. Imo comet and the next two dlc after house of wolves should be free because I would actually tell my friend to get it because I don't want him to grind for months then have to pay more money.

  • I am still dumb founded or mis-informed... I heard the idea of Destiny came about 10 years ago and Activision said Destiny took $500 million to make. Um where is the 10 years and $500 million spent on this game??? It's fun... Just where is ... Seems so little... The the only thing that got any details was the Art work, board designs, and the gear. No real story, no revolutionary features, no originality It really is so like Halo without Master Chief. It's Halo with strikes and raids. I do like it, not bashing it.. But why does it feel like it's missing so much? How much did it take to make Skyrim? And how long? How long did it take to make WOW (Vanilla)? How much??? (Adjust for inflation) There are too many games to look at... Not to have chat options... LFG options.... Open World concepts.... This would have been the best game of the year... In 2000.

    • This isn't WoW. This isn't borderlands. This isn't Star Wars. For Christ's sake, why does everyone expect it to be? Did the thought ever cross your mind that maybe, maybe, this is how Bungie wanted to develop their game? By which I don't mean the glitches and the pricey DLC (the latter being on Craptivision). I mean a story that gradually reveals itself over an extended period of time. Maybe you missed the grimoire cards, but the dark age and the collapse are supposed to be mysteries. That's not "laziness" on Bungie's part. They've said they have a ten year plan. You don't get ten years out of a cut and dried, COD style story. I'm sure HoW will explain more about the awoken. Later expansions will build on the story further. I have faith. I'm sticking this one out to the end, no matter how bitter or sweet it may be.

      • The best content is the content you havn't even touched on this account that is.. Do the raids and do some nightfalls and after that when you've fully played destiny we'll talk about what there is to do and what not.

        • People that don't buy the DLC still get access to new armor and weapons and missions. As for free DLC just NO. If you don't like the game don't play it. And the DLC has plenty of content. All other shooters just give new maps to PVP on Destiny gives you new PVP maps new raid new strike tons new weapons and armor sorry man you just 100% wrong

          • I very much approve good sir. as for the people who are against this (why on earth you don't want free content is beyond me), might I suggest you look into the history of a little game called Mass Effect 3? For those of you that don't know, here's an abbreviated history of what happened and why free dlc makes good business sense: 1. mass effect 3 releases 2. major fan outrage and backlash occurs due to a perceived underdeveloped ending that doesn't stand up to the storytelling bar set by the rest of the series 3. Bioware makes a public acknowledgement of its mistakes (something Bungie has not done whatsoever), and promises an "extended ending" to be released for FREE at a later date. 4. fan outrage stemmed 5. high quality extended cut released 6. fans love Bioware once again (some dissatisfaction remains with regards to the creative choices Bioware made with regards to the ending but that's not relevant to this discussion 7. Bioware continually releases free multiplayer updates over the course of the next year, each which includes at least six new classes and several maps. 8. Mass Effect 3 multiplayer, which released to major skepticism from fans and critics alike, has a long, long lifespan... content fans = longer series lifespan = more money The major developmental costs (building a game engine, art and level asset creation, animation, etc.) for this game were completed probably around a year ago. All it would take would be one mission designer using the already built engine toolset and some play testers to crank out some new enemy configurations in the already constructed levels we have now thus creating a quick, cheap new content. Cost? Nominal. consider it a good investment in your product and write it off as advertising . I'd be feeling a whole lot more satisfied with my season pass if I wasn't getting two dlcs for the price of 3.5.

              • I respect you and your opinion, BUT NO! You dare attempt to steal from a business? You dare to cut their profits so you can save a little cash?! I want to have a great game! A great product! However, the only way for an artist to create a great piece is with the correct skills and materials! In the modern world, money is oxygen for businesses. Bungie has plenty of skill, but the only way to progress further is to get the funds! So I ask you, dear profit vulture, to adjust your views to a logical standpoint instead of a desire able one. I apologize for appearing rude, but this is the way of the world.

                • I understand where you're coming from. I myself am frustrated with how repetitive the game is. On a daily basis on Destiny (I don't actually play everyday), I spend my time like this with? my level 28 Titan: I play the daily mission (I'm also unhappy how I sometimes need The Dark Below to play the daily mission!), then I get my bounties and grind for those, and then I might play the Strikes Playlist or the Crucible. This all takes about two hours, then I'm done. And I cannot stress this enough! I am so discouraged at the lack of work put into some parts of the game. A big hole where this is apparent is in matchmaking. I only have one friend the owns and plays Destiny as much as me. So it's very difficult to get three players for Weekly and Nightfall Strikes. And don't even mention the VoG! Why is Bungie so ignorant as to not add matchmaking - which is already in the game - into some other core areas? Sure, the matchmaking might have to be more sophisticated so people don't get put into a game with others who have gone AFK. But I'm sure Bungie could care less about that, since each worker there has the entire company to play with😒. Make sure to check out the link. IGN has a really good video and article about Destiny.

Perhaps everything can't be implemented, but I do think there should be more "bang" for our collective bucks. I felt shortchanged with the first dlc.

                • You have to remember that this game is not like other MMO that have cash shop or a sub to keep the game alive with constant update. Destiny relies on the expansions to keep the game updated with fixes and content. The only people that are going to get some "extra content" are the xbox player when they get everything PS had time exclusive for a whole year.

                • I don't think DLC should be free, but I do think a DLC expansion should actually expand something. I liked Destiny, but its a freaking rip-off. If this Dlc had been a new planet or vast new region, 8-10 new story driven missions, 2 strikes, 1 raid and a great boost to high end light gear diversity, then it would have been worth it to come back. Bungie talks about this game as a foundation, but its way more a beta than any game is gaming history. They have no meaningful direction and the mere inadequacies of this DLC is proof they mailed it in for Destiny 2. Stop trying to "save" Bungie and just walk away, they don't matter anymore and dragon age and far cry 4 are WAY superior in every way.

Sorry, but 3 story missions, a strike and a raid are not worth half the value of the game itself. I persinally will not be buying anymore dlc for this and if Destiny 2 is in the making then i'm seriously considering my options.

                  • I think bungee thinks that Iron Banner and the Queens missions count as free dlcs. They're not. They're reskinned content. Iron Banner is just crucible with a new name (hopefully they make good changes to it.) queens is just story missions on level 28 and only have to do with the Fallen. They don't expand our knowledge of the Destiny universe. They both sucked. The only free content that was worth being called a free dlc is the Vault of Glass. And that wasn't even really one at all. They just waited long enough for people to hit level 26 before releasing it. They should put out a new longer story mission every month that explains what he hell is going on in the game. I think with the little amount of content in the Dark Below that destiny may crash and burn with all the new great looking games coming out.
