If you look at the Bad Juju and the Thorn, you'll notice their exotic perks make no sense.
Thorn has a dot, but hand cannons are meant to oneshot enemies, and piercing rounds aren't useful since heads don't generally line up, meaning Mark of the Devourer rarely has any effect, especially in pve. Not only that, the reload speed and mag size are terrible.
Bad Juju reloads on kill, but the Bad Juju is bad at killing things quickly, and it already has a great reload speed, making String of Curses mostly useless.
The Truth
Their exotic perks are meant to be on the other weapon.
Imagine the Bad Juju with the Mark of the Devourer instead of String of Curses. Every burst from the weapon would proc the dot. That would be a massive dps increase. Not only that, while heads don't line up, bodies do, making the armor piercing element of Mark of the Devourer extra useful, further increasing the possible dps. Not only that, it would get rid of the need for a dedicated armor piercing perk, allowing you to take the almighty perfect balance.
In essence, Mark of the Devourer is exactly what the Bad Juju needs to make it the dps weapon you always wanted it to be.
Now imagine the Thorn with String of Curses instead of Mark of the Devourer. Instant reload on kill. Increased damage on kill.
String of Curses would make the Thorn the ultimate combo kill weapon. Get a headshot? You're more likely to get another, and as long as you string headshots together, you never have to reload. If you miss? You've got increased damage for a little bit, make em count. And if you get down to your last bullet, you've got the Final Round perk. If you get a kill with the final round, you're back in the game.
Now tell me that isn't what these weapons need to become amazing.
Bungie, please.

Necrobump

Stop with all the necro threads, I beg of you.
-
Add the lingering effect to bad jujus bullets. Case closed.
-
Lol old post but man looking at this now thorn would have been absolutely monstrous in pvp

As we can see~ Edited Nov 1

-
This. Please bungie.
-
Bad juju is pretty good in pvp and thorn is a beast in pvp, but they both suck in pve
-
necro thread coming thru bungie needs to re-read this ^^
-
Hey, look! There is a person with a brain. -points- Bungie, maybe you should hire OP to manage the monkies you currently have on the staff line-up?
-
Yes that would help tremendously
-
My solution ? don't play with the bad juju and the Thorn and do like I do : play with hawkmoon !
-
This has to be the dumbest idea ever and I bet you're one of those tards who just found out what satire means. Thorn will never get rid of its poison damage. Reason why? Read it's story.
-
Not a fan of swapping the abilities, as it takes away from the lore of the weapons, imo. Thorn is a solid gun, but it could use a faster reload time. I struggle to opt for it in any situation as that reload makes you so vulnerable. A few extra shots would help offset this, but I think a faster reload is much more beneficial. Haven't used bad juju yet. So I have nothing to say on it. :)
-
For Thorn yes, for Bad Juju no.
-
Bump. +1 internet.

Best buff idea I've heard for these weapons. Not sure how this would impact PVP as I don't PVP much but it does make sense. Would be happy with a damage and magazine size increase for Bad Juju. Don't have Thorn yet but I've got the bounty, on the PVP portion now.

Edited by Luke KB: 11/2/2014 4:43:24 AMI don't understand how everyone thinks thorn is so bad. With its DoT its a two shot kill (w/o head-shots. Shoot them twice, forget about them a wall away. Most hand cannons are around a 3-4 shot kill (w/o head-shots). It's built to be one of those devastatingly powerful weapons that are slow abd clunky
-
Swapping out the abilities would make them loose their appeal. I'd prefer a larger clip on Thorn. I do see how it seems a bit useless for PVE, as we normally just rock through getting chained headshot's and gunslingers trance, but the Dot, is pretty good for pvp. And thats ok right? some guns are just better suited to one or the other. Can't have the best of both worlds, just have a gun for each.

Edited by BattleAxe: 11/3/2014 8:49:27 AMI would be happy with just a bigger clip. 15 rounds is a joke when your getting rushed by 15,20,30, enemies. ( Bad Juju )

Edited by Elocnam: 11/2/2014 10:05:20 PMMy friend is trying to get thorn to see if it is good and we are currently at phogoth on Xbox one. If you want to help message Elocnam. This is to know if it needs a buff or not from personal experiences with it
