READ THE CRYPTARCH REPUTATION DETAILS!

Directly above the despised white engrams that are available for purchase while talking to the cryptarch vendor in the tower, there is a line that reads "REPUTATION DETAILS". When you hover over this line with your cursor, the description reads: Crypto-Archeology Reputation Awarded by decoding engrams with the Cryptarch. Unlocks new Engrams for purchase. Did anyone catch that? Apparently, the cryptarch-reputation / leveling-up system for this vendor was originally intended to allow us to purchase Better quality engrams. This should not have been removed from the game. I think we can all agree that this is something we need. Understandably, maybe they need to be priced very high. EDIT: AS IT TURNS OUT, there was QUITE the wording mistake on my part that i only just now became aware of: you will find now that my suggestion for engram prices are MUCH different now. Hilariously, i did not mean to even address rare engrams. My sincerest apologies, thoughtful guardians! Please continue reading! Maybe a legendary engram should cost roughly 15,000-20,000 glimmer and an exotic engram should cost 20,000-25,000 glimmer. Also, weapon parts and other fairly useless materials in the game such as hadronic essences and motes of light should also be implemented as currency. There is also the possibility that only xur may sell the exotic engrams to try to restrict them a bit more. Honestly, glimmer is practically useless without being able to buy better quality engrams like i have suggested. ALSO: the gunsmith needs the same format! A leveling up system that allows for better quality guns available for purchase is severely needed. Perhaps to make the weapons more expensive, they could be purchased with copious amounts of motes of light and glimmer. Maybe the weapons that the gunsmith sells should be lower quality than the factions' weapons and there should be a stock refresh for the weapons as well that provides for different weapons for purchase than before the stock refresh. Please comment and bump this post for DeeJ to see. DeeJ, please voice this concern for us to Bungie concerning better quality engrams available for purchase and for a similar system for the gunsmith. Both of these vendors are relatively useless as vendors. Yes, you decode your engrams at the cryptarch, but that is all. There is nothing to look forward to! Players occasionally visit the cryptarch only to decode engrams and then leave- not to mention how useless the gunsmith is; who buys from him after level 17? We really need this in an update. Personally, other than very inexpensive weapon upgrades, i have absolutely no use for glimmer whatsoever. Perhaps motes of light could be used for purchasing from both these vendors in a conjunction with glimmer as currency as well. Please DeeJ. If you still aren't convinced about the details: Concerning the Cryptarch reputation details and the word "new": I considered that a leveling-up system by definition relates to improvement. I believe that Bungie intended to provided better quality engrams. I believe this because a system of reputation earning requires different rewards of better quality. There is not any purpose in looking forward to a higher Cryptarch reputation level if the stock simply rotates through different engrams for different classes of equipment. However, the reputation-earning system makes sense if there was intended to be "better" rewards that could also be classified or described as "new". This is why i believe it was originally intended by Bungie to offer better quality engrams. Suggestion: Those of you who find that legendaries are far too available- what about a complete removal of the Cryptarch's purchasable inventory? Furthermore, the gunsmith and the Cryptarch could merge- considering that the Cryptarch's inventory is useless to any Guardian over level 12 or so. However, the "Crypt-troll"'s usefulness is insignificant as a true vendor and something needs to be done about it. Rare engrams offered: It has been established that rare engrams are offered, however seldom. Also we all know that uncommon engrams are also offered on occasion. However, i do not believe that this should be the way the reputation-accruing system should work. Refer to my paragraphs above as to what we should have. Post and comment: I have noticed that the only way to bring about change is for multiple posts to be made concerning the subject matter. Even when a post is well-written, thoughtful, and educated, and when there are thousands of replies, there seems to be no response from DeeJ to the matter. Therefore, i encourage other users of this forum to post of the Cryptarch/Gunsmith concept makeover so that DeeJ will notice and voice our concerns to Bungie. Thank you guys.

 • The mercantile system in this game loses functionality very quickly. Other than factions and engram decrypts , there is little to no reason to interact with the merchants. They simply have nothing to offer higher level players. This is a clear indication that something went wrong. It's either with the loot system in the game or with the duration of the story that was intended to be provided at release. I say this because we are clearly reaching level cap much more quickly than this economy and loot system is designed for. The variety of designs in uncommon and rare gear imply that we were intended to spend a considerably greater period of time in that level range.
