The One About Activision

I believe Activision has poisoned this game. Yeah Bungie developed Destiny. But I truly believe Activision made the call of cutting the game into DLC and destroying the story that was already made and ready to be implemented but never came full circle because the lead writer left to explore other avenues of his career (I.E. Leaving the grasps of Activision and their poisonous route of producing "games", before it was too late for him and his career) So I say this. Bungie, I'm sorry you got into a bad business deal with the mother of all modern (trash) gaming, they just might of ruined your future in this industry. I hope not, but it may happen. This game was a total mockery of what it was advertised for, and that's just plain sad. Sadly I will be signing off from the tower for good, I would say goodbye to the 15 others that are in here with me, but there is no voice chat in this "social" hub. Again, thanks for trying your best Bungie. And -blam!- you Activision.

    • They should've stuck with Halo or either drop that and work on Destiny with 343 Industries instead. Word.

Its funny how CoD now has 3 companies creating one for 3 years so that a new CoD comes out every year with 4 15$ map pack DLC a year....But That had to be Infinity Ward and Not Activisions idea.... lol.... A game that was talked about having stunning cinematic story telling, where you could become legend, that was vast, alive, last the next ten years... Is not the Destiny we got. Stunning Cinematic Storytelling: .....Really?... There was like 9-10 cut-scenes (not very memorable so I don't recall all of them), only a few actually made me feel a little immersion... There was no real meat of a story, just bits and pieces. Mystery is good, but for the FIRST installment of a long game, some background and lore would be nice. The Grimoire Cards are a retarded, lazy and last second impulse as to adding story. Most of us bought this game, because video games (RPGs mostly) are like books with action. Reading a book bores me, but being able to play a book.. thats what I'm here for. Becoming Legend: Well, if your lucky you can become legend in hours, most of us take a few days if not weeks.. RNG is a terrible way to give out gear for challenging content, but a great way to make little kids feel happy about themselves. If I run a level 28 Daily I get some mats, a couple blue engrams, marks and rep. The enemy have the same chance as level 2s to give me a purple engram. Maybe letting the bosses in strikes drop purple(guaranteed)/yellow(slight %) engrams would be nice. Nothing like doing the weekly nightfall and getting Vanguard Rep.. as I'm already rank 8 with them... And let us wear more then 1 exotic, I know it throws PvP balance out but fix that by giving them there own armor and weapons and leave the PvE stuff alone. The 1 exotic rule makes getting any others pointless... Vast: LOL.... no it is not.. You have 3 planets and a moon to visit, you only have to do 3 quests on each one to advance to the next, and when thats done do bounties, dailies and weeklies/raid to grind gear till next DLC. The grind is the main stay of MMORPGs so I'm gonna refer to this as one except a LMORPG (Limited Multiplayer Online RPG). They had some events for PvE and PvP which should not have been separated, Queen and Iron should have occurred at same time so neither side gets more attention. The Queen could have given out actual missions instead of bounties and kill orders, something for us to learn more about the Awoken and how she has Fallen guards.. Holiday events could use special missions or strikes (WoW is a good example). Your on the right course with the Jackolyte, but make it actually scare the Hive... Alive: You have so many voice actors/actresses for them to just be vendors. Make them give missions, give us a reason to go to the tower for something other then grabbing bounties, buying items or spamming invites. Getting missions and rewards from the NPC gives us a connection to them and brings them to life. Let us out into the city so we can see the civilians we are suppose to protect. I mean, we are suppose to be the first ones to explore beyond the city, yet there is no discovery. The Ghost knows everything as soon as we land. All I'm saying is Bungie can still bring this game back up. It has great music, graphics, mechanics and premise.. It just needs that extra love and attention. I blame Activision for what was released as well.. Sorry for the wall, just figured better then Bump...

          • Yeah so true, from what I've seen from bungie with halo they could do so much more. Sure the gameplay is better than halo but the story and content is just pathetic which we know activision caused with their reputation of CoD.

              • Activision I hope you're hearing this. Your greed has -blam!-ed this game up to a whole new level of garbage. This game would truly have been a 10 year game if they wouldn't have signed partnership with you.

              • Actually, if you check out the anonymous conversation on reddit between a Bungie employee you'll see that although Activision played a part, they didn't play as big a part as most people think. It was the higher ups in Bungie that called for the story cuts and content cuts, Activision was just pressuring them to meet certain deadlines. Not that it's great that they were doing that, but basically Bungie is to blame for the failure of this game.

                  • Yeah.. I guess you could say I'm too much of a fanboy to willingly give up on Bungie like this. I've loved them since Halo and I certainly don't want to give up now. So I can and will blame Activision for anything that bugs me, unless I am proven otherwise, of course. Can't help it, Bungie got me into gaming. I don't want to give up on them.

                        • In my honest opinion, both companies are at fault here. But its Activision's fault more so then Bungies. First off, Bungie should have known better then to team up with corrupted publishers (aka Activision) and Bungie knew what they do for money, but chose to team up anyway since their angry at Microsoft. Now what Bungie could have done is delay the release and explain to Activision why they would need more time to improve the game rather than what it is now. Activision could have made MUUUCH more money off of this then they are now, but my theory (I could be wrong about this, so don't flip out) is that they looked at what Destiny back when the original writer made the story and what the game would have it it. Activision was scared that this could have been a CoD killer and wanted to do something about it, so they told Bungie to change big things and told them how to handle their community about updates, DLC, ect. And then the moment the writer left because he hated what the game was Turing into, he bailed, Activision saw that they could butcher the story, did just that, and then here we are today, upset about a lame excuse of a game. Bungie could have at least fix the big issues with the game as a whole, but instead they choose to Nerf and fix said "bugs" and try to make the game last as long as possible. Activision tells them to say "screw the community!" And Bungie says "for how long?" Activision has more control over this game then Bungie by a long shot, and until that contract is said and done, that's just how its gonna be. But in the end, Bungie chose to partner with Activision. I don't support either of the companies due to their selfish ways and how Bungie is just doing this to themselves. Destiny is lost potential that will never be found again and will remain in the darkness for good, nothing can fix this game if all these updates are gonna do is disappoint gamers and charge for DLC that was suppose to be in-game content to begin with.

                          • Couldn't agree more but on the other side of the coin everyone knows Activision's reputation and practices but Bungie still chose to "get into bed" with them so there is absolutely zero sympathy from me toward Bungie. It's yet again us the gaming community who are the ones that are left to suffer all we can do is stick together and try to make our voices heard.
