A suggestion that could help alleviate loot frustration...[long]

Let me preface this by stating this is only based on my situation and from what I perceive to be the general consensus in regard to players' frustrations with the activity reward loot drops. It may not apply to everyone. It may only apply to me and my limited window of perception. It is simply an idea I wanted to throw into the suggestion box. My Experience I've put in hundreds of hours over two different characters (level 29 hunter, primary, & level 28 titan, secondary). I've acquired a decent collection of good to really good gear. The vast majority of that gear as come from buying with marks, and between my two characters, respectively, hitting rank 56 and 18 with the cryptarch, rank 8 and rank 5 Vanguard, Rank 6 and Rank 3 Dead Orbit, Rank 5 New Monarchy. Oh and, of course, from Xur. I've only had one exotic drop, Plan C from a Tiger strike last week. The 6-8 or so Nightfall drops I've had were all either shards, strange coins, and a 3 or 4 legendaries (one was just an engram that decrypted to 2 energies). I've only ran the raid twice, both times only getting shards/energies and Chatterwhite (actually I did get the hunter raid cloak from a chest on the first run). My luck is OK at times but horrible the majority of the time. It sucks to get a bad drop or have a string of bad luck, but it goes with the territory and is the nature of RNG. Statistically, I'll get something of higher rarity eventually, and I just have to hope it's something I want/need. That's just how it works, and makes searching for those great drops fun, if not sometimes a bit tedious. My Frustration Where it all breaks down for me, and exacerbates any disappointment/frustration exponentially, is when I get those average, blue, currency drops, yet the others in my fireteam get exotics or sought-after legendaries. I'm not a fan of crucible so haven't played it enough to witness it first hand, but others have expressed a similar sentiment in regard how those carrying the team will get little to nothing, while others who didn't contribute or in some cases had just joined, will get an exotic. That lone exotic drop I got last week was an "ok" consolation, albeit bitersweet, as it was my least sought-after exotic. However, it came after seeing the Midas Multitool, Suros, Icebreaker, etc. drop on a number of other occasions for other members of the strike team in tiger strikes. One strike I was in last week rewarded me with a blue class item engram and BOTH other members with legendary weapon engrams, one of which had joined just prior to the boss. I had 100+ kills, twice as many as they did, and no deaths. Week before last, I began soloing the devils layer nightfall, and a friend of mine joined in just before Sepiks (he's a way better player than I, so it was only coincidental; i.e. it was not to boost him through the strike). We took out Sepiks Prime: I got 6 shards, he got The Last Word (made all the more painful by the fact that I had been carrying on about how much I wanted the last word AS WE WERE FIGHTING SEPIKS). Last week, similar scenario, I get 5, count em, FIVE, strange coins, he gets the Midas Multitool, to which his response is, "eh, I'm not a fan of this weapon, I've dismantled two already" (don't worry, I told him where he could stick that multitool before he dismantled it :) ). This week, I made the mistake, again, of expressing my desire for the Hard Light. As if RNGesus listens through Kinect, yet can't discern who's voice is whose, he gracefully bestowed the Hard Light...upon the other member of my fireteam. Not really sure what happened for the next few minutes, kinda blacked out and my clothes were ripped and house destroyed when I came to. The other side of the coin, of which I'll only mention briefly as it's clearly not the side I'm on, are those who get GREAT drops, but repeatedly and get duplicates of a lot of gear, generally still leaving them wanting without having that raid piece to complete the set, or every weapon except the one they really wanted. Granted, I again have a suggestion of where they can stick those duplicate exotics and raid gear, but that's not important. :) My Suggestion(s) Two rolls of RNG for activity rewards: - One for the rarity of the drop for the entire team - Then one for the individual drop of each player. This would alleviate any frustration or disappointment for being the odd player out to get nothing of significant value. Frankly, it's also not nearly as rewarding to get a decent drop but have another team member met with bitter disappointment. SHARING the "reward" would make finishing these activities SO much more rewarding. It would make running strikes, raids, crucible, etc. a more cohesive team-based experience, whether it's good or bad. Some of it is tangible, some of it's psychological, but the benefits seem would be unmistakable. (additional/secondary) Trading reward loot at the reward screen They'll be of the same rarity, so of comparable value, and could help address any frustration with the "painfully" lucky players getting duplicates. Anyway, there's a plethora of other ideas I've had for tweaks/improvements, but I'll put a pin in those until later. This one has just been the one that, to me, would have the smallest ratio of impact to balance/playability/longevity versus impact to enjoyment/sense of accomplishment/comradery. Thoughts? And please, agree or disagree, keep it cordial. i.e. don't be a dick :) Happy Xursday Eve! TL;DR: A suggestion for a few new features/additions to alleviate any frustration or disappointment for being the odd player out to get nothing of significant value while others on the same team (be it strike, raid, or crucible) get awesome drops: Two rolls of RNG for activity rewards - One for the rarity of the drop for the entire team - Then one for the individual drop of each player. (additional/secondary) Trading reward loot at the reward screen
