I'm probably alone on this but..

Did anyone else here not know about Destiny until after it came out like I did? My friend told me to get the game one day so I did and I've enjoyed it a lot over the last month for the most part. If you never saw a trailer for the game or didn't read up on it at all like I didn't then the game doesn't seem like a disappointment at all really. Just seems like a fun game to me. A bit repetitive maybe yes, but nothing is perfect, and I expected the repetition to occur from the start so it doesn't bother me at all one bit. You can always point out flaws in anything, but complaining on the forums just makes you look like a spoiled brat. So I don't get why so many people feel the need to do it. Either enjoy the game or get a new one, it's really as simple as that. $60 isn't enough to cry over, even if you do somehow feel like you've been cheated or something lame and dramatic like that. The community should just stop whining about every little thing and just enjoy the game. And if you really hate it that much then just remember, nobody is forcing you to play it. Edit: This got way more responses than I ever thought it would. This wasn't meant to be read in a nasty or rude tone, it's just my opinion based on my experience with the game and seeing all the hate it gets on the forums on a regular basis. I'll leave everyone to continue discussing and debating whatever but personally I'm done here.

  • The fact that some missed this game's ad campaign,(not sure how seeing as that in retrospect, that seems to be where most of the money was spent) does not absolve them of the crippling shortcomings this game is littered with. Your "ignorance is bliss" view is admirable, but misplaced. If we continue to just shrug our shoulders and let it happen, the industry will continue to be broke down and molested for profit until there is no love, quality, or art remaining in these games. Destiny has been fun, don't get me wrong. It's gunplay mechanics know no rival. But studios must start being held accountable for the fallacies and dishonorable profiteering that seems to be out of control in the game industry today.

    • I didn't know much about the game when I bought it and I was still disappointed. You know why? Because I've played games before; I know what a good game looks like, I know what immersive, comprehensive storytelling is, I know when I am having fun and when I'm just mindlessly grinding to reach the next progress point, and I know this game is utter garbage. It just feels fragmented and incomplete. When I was first playing the story I remember thinking, "Wait, did I miss something? Why am I doing this shit?".

      • I personally didn't follow Destiny at all pre-launch. My buddy was getting it and so I picked it up to so we had a co-op game to play.

      • Here's a short story which may help you understand how the way bungie is conducting itself and perhaps make you feel like eating cake ... The whole experience of purchasing destiny could be compared to the following scenario It's like driving past a cake store and you see a sign saying most "winner of the most delicious cakes in the country" so you pull over and remember your birthday is a month away so you go about ordering a big chocolate icing cream filled sponge cake from the window. Then when it gets delivered on your birthday you open the box and inside isn't a cake. It's a few layers of sponge on top of each other with a can of whipped cream and a tub of icing and looks nothing like the cake you ordered. You then proceed to call the cake shop and you get a message service and you leave a message saying how unhappy you were. You don't get a response, you leave another message, and still no response. You look down at your cake and try to justify what's in the box and you tell yourself.....well it's in a nice box.... It's cut in the right shape... But you can't seem to deal with the fact that it's just not what was ordered and paid for months in advance. You get a phone call later that day from the cake shop saying they have good news, Guess what!?! Exclaims Deej the cake shop manager on the phone, "we know you bought the segments of cake from us but now we can assemble them into the shape of the cake you selected in the window that day and also guess what else?!?" "It's only another $20!!! How good is that!!??" You hang up the phone promptly in disbelief that someone actually is running a business in such a horrible and disorganized manner. You hear the phone ring again , you answer it and it's Deej again. He sounds a little more apologetic this time "Look you know well there's a problem with the sponge part of your cake also, we kinda forgot to put any sugar in it when we were making it so we sent you some sugar packets that will be coming some time in the future I'm not sure when and I couldn't tell you a time" A week later you drive past the same cake shop and see a person about to walk in... Would you stop them?

        • Huh maybe that's why I'm so disappointed with the game, yet I'm enjoying the hell outta watchdogs, a game everyone loves to hate. I find that game densely packed with content, good mechanics and decent enough graphics. Blame it on the hype machine that made us think this was gonna be fallout in space with techno magic, and instead have us a 12 hour shooter with pretty good coop.

          • Exactly what happened to me. Off course I heard about it and even played the beta but I didn't like it after 30 minutes or so so I forgot about it. Decided to buy it anyway because I had nothing else atm. Best thing I ever did. Enjoy it every day! Ps4? Add me. Same name as here. Peace

          • I could explain why we're all complaining, I could explain what this game was supposed to be... but like Bungie, I couldn't be bothered. I'm not trying to be funny here, this meme illustrates one of the many dissappointments this community is facing. Not because we're hating on this game, but because we are saddened by the loss of what it was supposed to be.

          • People that preordered it wanted the better Destiny. The ones who knew about it before hand wanted the one they saw in E3 with the very dynamic enemies and worlds. Which is why most people preordered it. Then bungie decided to change a whole lot of stuff about it without saying anything about the changes and sold us a portion of what we believed we were purchasing.

            • I have the same experience, but I totally disagree. Destiny is sorely lacking in content for its cost, regardless of hype.

            • All of the bungie / Activision fanboys are crying because its not what they expected . every game bungie has released so far they cut content to make the release date on time its been over a decade of cutting in order to push the product out. Either quit buying there games or get over it.

                • I think a lot of people got their expectations up way too high. I've talked to people who thought Open World meant they would be able to walk all over the surface of the Moon. They cling to conspiracy theories and their petitions. Everyone I personally know that has bought the game have been playing it like crazy. I sent a PS3 beta key to a married couple I know and now they have two PS4's so they can play together online just for Destiny.

                  • I never watched a trailer for it because I wanted to be suprised, I still feel the game should have been delayed until they had a story and story missions that had more variety, not deploy ghost over and over again.

                  • So because you didn't see any trailers or get into the hype of the game, your opinion matters more than the people who did? With or without trailers/hype- its a lackluster game- why did Bungie make a feedback forum if people are not supposed to give feedback? If you really hate the so-called whining on the forum then just remember, no one is forcing you to read it...

                    • I never heard of it until release day and enjoy it still. I've spent more money drinking downtown than I did on this game. The community is a bunch of turds who cry because the game their parents bought them isn't perfect. It's a game.
