Just had the best raid experience ever

First, bungie please fix the ending where it doesn't take you to the load out screen. Edit: retract the first statement, it may infact not be a bug. Since Atheon controls time. But anyway, So we have a team of 4 28s and 2 29s doing the normal raid. 2 warlocks, 2 hunters, 2 titans. 5 have experience, 1 does not. We breeze through it all the way up to Atheon and his new added feature. We explain to the virgin-raider the Atheon scenario. And wipe a few times while he's learning. So after about 5 wipes we get a good system going. We're coming out of the teleporter when a harpie explodes on a guys face. Then Atheons splash damage kills 2 inside of the shield bubble.(glitch?) Atheons health is at 1/4 and we only have 3 guys alive. This means a wipe in most cases. But, right before he teleports us, I jump off the cliff killing myself. He teleports the remaining 2 players, I self-resurrect myself open the portal, revive one guy (by the portal) and run inside. The screen was turning red from oracles, but we were able to repel them. We come out of the portal and blast him with our ice breakers. Success, we did it. That. Was. Awesome. Edit: I can't take credit for the creativity of this strategy. I learned it from "I am legend" in the 3 man raid and the 2 man heroic raid

  • Cool story! I'll share mine from last night as well. We finally got a full clan raid together for the 2nd time. It went pretty smooth for not having played together for awhile. We wiped a few times over silly mistakes but that happens. So we got to Atheon 2.0 without much of a strategy beyond 'if you're cool picking up the relic and you get teleported...pick it up.' That went surprisingly well and we had a pretty good system after a few teleports and no wipes. Atheon's life force was quickly diminishing before the roar of our collective weaponry cutting into him from our protective bubble in the middle. Then after the following teleport things went sideways. One of the teleport team missed a cleanse on his way out and was in a bad way. His vision had already been fading and by the time the fog cleared and he was out of the portal, his vision had gone sufficiently black that he couldn't find his way to the cleansing bubble in the middle of the map. Then suddenly, just like happened to the OP, 2 of our guys went down under the bubble from splash damage. We were in a tenuous position, 2 guys down and 1 blind. After putting a few rounds in Atheon I jumped out of the bubble to fend off a couple harpies who had their eyes (eye?) set on my now disabled friend who was slowly stumbling about the sink plate wishing they'd put up a couple extra 'baby bumpers'. And then FWUMP! Random teleport. I find myself on the Venus side and quickly grab the relic before heading down the stairs. If my blind friend is outside by himself with two corpses, we're done for. If he's in the portal with us I'm not going to get much help with the Pretorian down below. Having a good clan though means that I can rush on with some degree of certainty that whoever is behind me will have my back. After a frantic couple seconds I find that I am indeed in there with a very nervous guardian who can't see, but we couldn't have asked for a better 3rd person in there with us for backup. Our man on the outside quickly went to go open the portal lest we live the rest of our short lives in this hellish jungle. Our backup man helps fend off the Pretorian who snuck by my initial ground slam with the relic. I get some damage into him with the relic but with no time to finish him off I run back to cleanse my team while the world around me is quickly filling with red light upon red light...upon red light, growing brighter and brighter as our backup tries in vain to take them down before they eliminate us all, while simultaneously avoiding the Pretorian who's furiously running around smashing everything in sight with only sliver of life left. As the cleanse goes up and my friend's vision comes back at long last, I see he's already prepared his heavy machine gun for whatever is going on. Opening his eyes to a world filled with red orbs he quickly begins putting round after round into each in sequential order as our other clanmate continues to work his magic and I finish off the Pretorian. Somehow we manage to pull the situation from the brink of destruction killing several of the oracles mere moments before they send us all to an early grave. We rush out of the portal, hands still shaking, and rush to the middle platform where we're finally able to revive our friends and vanquish Atheon with a rare and satisfying fervor. It was a glorious victory.
