Titans and Tanking

Alright, I'm going to say this right here, right now so that those who only read the first line of a post will know what I'm talking about: this topic relates to the Titan Defender's lack of defensive capability in PvE. PvE, PvE, PvE, PvE. *ahem* Titans. They're big. They're strong. They're brave. They're... the equivalent of a twig... I'm sure that there are many Titan Defenders out there that have a VERY hard time staying alive while also keeping the enemy's attention. Those that chose the Titan with the idea of being a tank to better take incoming damage may have noticed that they can't do so. The issue with this can be related to many things, such as the lack of defensive capabilities and an apparent mismatch with the Warlock Sunsinger's shield-granting melee. "Wait, Warlock?" Yes, good sir/madam. The Warlock Sunsinger has the exact same thing that the Defender has, only it needs to simply hit an enemy to grant the extra layer of shields, whereas a Titan has to kill the enemy with his melee to get that same bonus. What has me conflicted is that the Warlock Sunsinger, which I envisioned as a DPS/Support type, has a melee attack that is not only stronger, but also grants bonuses upon hitting an enemy. The Titan Defender's melee is a normal melee, only with the added effect of giving you an extra layer of shields should you finish an enemy with a quick one-two. If the Warlock Sunsinger has this ability, what reason does a Titan have to be at the front of the group in, let's say, a Nightfall? The other issue here is that the Defender lacks added defense in addition to the regular armor/recovery/agility stats. When the armor is completely maxed out, I don't see as much of a difference. I had the idea that the skill tree would include something to bolster my own defense, but I don't see anything like that. Yes, we do have the indestructo-shield, but that is a Super, and we don't have access to that 24/7. My point here is that another class gets better shielding than the Defender, and that the Defender itself does not nearly have enough defensive power to even consider himself a tanky unit. Now, don't get me wrong here, guys: I've played the Defender since I created my character, and I have it maxed out with different builds in mind for different situations. I've also played the Striker, and I can safely say that the Striker is a good class and is well thought-out. A change that I would like to humbly propose is a swap in shield-triggering between the Warlock Sunsinger and the Titan Defender, where the Sunsinger has to kill an enemy to get the bonus, and the Defender simply has to hit them. An addition that I would like to propose for the Defender is a skill that decreases incoming damage by an amount around the 5%-25% range, and also decreases firepower by the given amount. It is not an active skill, but rather a passive skill. Another addition that could be made is a skill that increases the amount of threat you build on your enemies, or "hate/aggro." If you want a shooter cited for this mechanic, just look at Army of Two. The aggro mechanic was absolutely superb in the first two, and is not just limited to MMOs. We could also implement a "Taunt" feature into the "Suppressor Grenade," which causes enemies in PvE to focus on the Defender while keeping its PvP function of disabling abilities. Well, the floor is yours, forum. What do you guys think? Edit: Added in a "Hate" generating skill as another suggestion. Edit 2: Added in "Taunt Grenades," as suggested by Entei, and reworked my idea regarding Titan damage reduction, as per Gipemelo's argument. Edit 3: Updated introductory statement to better reflect my personal stance on the matter and not throw off potential posters (I'm not advertising an MMO approach here).
