Ranked Crucible and Adjusted Rewards + New Gamemodes (Suggestion)

The PVP Ranked/Unranked system. Currently, in my opinion, Crucible is fun, but once you finish buying stuff with your marks (if you buy anything at all) there really is no reason to keep on playing. It's fun, but in my opinion, not fun enough to keep you hooked. I find crucible gets boring quickly, and seeing other people get exotics and i get nothing but shitty +2 light blues really ruins the excitement of the reward page. This is where ranked could help. There will be 3 tiers. You can name them whatever you want but I will just use simple placeholders for now. Bronze, Silver and Gold Winning or losing contributes to your score, and so does your K/D (winning and losing contributes for most of it, but a good K/D could make the loss less devestating on your score. Ranked games will be only 1 gamemode (this gamemode could be subject to change). This discourages players who don't like the gamemode or want a change of pace TO play unranked games, so unranked doesn't become obsolete. (Another idea would be to give players a certain amount of ranked games each day, but this would get frustrating because of all the other grinding limits). Gamemode Suggestions: 8v8 deathmatch. 12v12 objective. Both of these gamemodes may require bigger/tweaked maps to accomadate, but I remember Big Team Battle fondly from the Halo franchise, and would love to see bigger scale battles in Destiny. Maybe some 3v3v3v3? Basically, the ranked matches WILL NEVER be the same gamemode as the curent Unranked matches. Tiers: Beside from seperating players by skill level, these tiers will also dole out better rewards the higher tier you are. Winning also gives a better chance at better rewards, while losing will never reward you with and exotic/legendary (although could reward you with rares). Bronze: Rares and Decoherents, with a VERY rare chance at a legendary. Pretty much the rewards now minus the exotics. Silver: Better rewards, with higher chances at Decoherents, Legendaries and Exotics (winning only, losing gives the same rewards as in bronze). But not so high that you will be seeing legendaries every 2-3 matches. They are still pretty rare. Gold: Best rewards, only Decoherents, Legendary and exotics. Also Crucible only jumpships and sparrows can be found here. As well as crucible only marks, bonds and cloaks. Losing gives the same rewards as Bronze. This makes PvP a bit more interesting eh? Also, at the end of each month (season) special rewards are given out at Gold level (silver and Bronze levels get a goodie bag filled with 3 cryptarch engrams, these can be Decoherents or Legendarys. Silver goodie bags have slightly better chances at a legendary). But at gold level is where the coolest rewards are given out. At gold level a engram goodie bag is given out, but with that engram goodie bag is a new jumpship or sparrow or ghost skin. In some months there could a holiday themed reward? Such as a "Frozen Sparrow" that has some ice on it and the trail is a light blue/white? Or at Halloween a scary jumpship thats rusty and has some crude skulls painted on it or something? A "Lucky Ghost" That is green and gold? None of these rewards will be too over the top, but will be cool looking and most importantly: exclusive. CHANGELOG: Amendment: Only 5 ranked matches are allowed a day, but match passes can be bought from the Crucible Quartermaster for glimmer and crucible marks. 6 marks for 1 match and 2500 glimmer. This forces players to play Casual if they run out of matches. MAY BE CHANGED. Amendment: More points are awarded for completing objectives than getting kills. At the end of the match, you also get points based on any achievements you got (Objectively Correct, buckshot bruiser, stuff like that.) . More points=better rewards. Also, if you lose, more points can save the loss from being too harsh on your stats. Someone with bad points will drop down more in the rankings then someone with good points. Open to constructive criticism and ideas Also excuse the jumbled form of it and any grammar mistakes, I was pretty tired at the time. REWARDS WILL NEED TO BE BALANCED, BUT DIFFERENT TIERS OF REWARDS IS DEFINITELY A MUST. • Hello Sword621 The short version: I would like to suggest an adjustment to the second Amendment. IN OBJECTIVE BASED games Objectively Correct yes Buckshot Bruiser no. Also Enforcer yes, Uprising yes basically anything achievement in team play that demonstrates team benefit skills (that may not be reflected in kills) maybe even have these separately ranked. The long version: I have been thinking a lot about control and especially how new people behave and how they can frustrate veterans in part because systematically they is not much recognition of the various elements of a successful fire team. In general the people with the highest scores are the power forwards with ridiculously high kill counts but I watched a video with a Power Forward killing 52 people and the team still lost because those not in the power forward role were not doing their jobs on zone defence, lane management, counter-sniping, camper clearing et cetera. Not that I think that these different tasks should be lumped together just that these roles need better recognition so that those who are new and are just going to lemming charge into 3v1 in a desperate attempt to raise their total kills really need different motivations to explore the wealth of opportunities in game. Lets face it a Goalie will never score as many points as a forward however the Goalie is just as important to the long term success of the team and is also ranked for proficiency.

  • Highly disagree with a limit on how any games a day you can play in ranked. Overall it wont matter how many you play, eventually you'll "plateau" until your personal skill level increases.

    • I think this is awesome, but do you really expect bungie to do anything about it? Last time we complained about something (engrams and the cryptarch) they made it worse. I feel like they would do the same here.

This is stuff that should have been in the game from launch... Cod can shit out a game with all this in a -blam!-ing year. Bungie previously did PVP stuff in halo... The lack of playlists and rankings (dont get me started on rewards) is inexcusable. And only seems to be a foreshadow of thing to come .

        • They can even keep crucible exactly the same, no level advantage, evened out damage output for weapons etc; with no better reward chances or unique rewards specific to ranked for all I care. I just want the halo 2 rank system back so I can kick some tail and see how I stack up against the world.

        • It amazes me that they didnt put their Halo 2 rank system in this game. Like seriously. I even started a petition if you want to take a minute to "sign". Https://www.change.org/p/activision-bungie-give-destiny-ranked-pvp

        • K/Ds are easily inflated, there should be a bonus for non fireteam players as its extremely easy to win with one. The way they have your combat rating is pretty accurate at how much of a good player u are as many noobs have it low while getting high kds by camping, noob tubes, supers, etc The destiny servers pick up a surprisingly detailed amount if data per match, so I'm sure the devs could come up with the best solution. The tier rewards are a great idea though, Its always a blast playing against skilled players than newby players even if u lose

          • DC once, you cannot access ranked for 24 hours, which can be bypassed with glimmer. However, if you DC twice, then you cannot access ranked for 48 hours, which cannot be bypassed with gold, AND the 2nd DC will count as a loss for oyu. YOur DC counter resets every 3 days. People wont be worried about stats, and it will actually make the game more fun BY MATCHMAKING YOU CORRECTLY AGAINST PEOPLE OF YOUR SKILL LEVEL. Also people will get rewards for doing better, which is a plus. Amendment: Only 5 ranked matches are allowed a day, but match passes can be bought from the Crucible Quartermaster for glimmer and crucible marks. 6 marks for 1 match and 2500 glimmer. This forces players to play Casual if they run out of matches. Amendment: More points are awarded for completing objectives than getting kills. Once the match is done. your K/D also gives you a certain amount of points. More points=better rewards. Also, if you lose, more points can save the loss from being too hars on your stats. Someone with bad points will drop down more in the rankings then someone with good points.

          • No. Rank and tracking kd is what kills multiplayer. People are too worried about stats they quit or restart console so if they do poorly it erases that match. Too many people are obsessed with stats that this will just kill the fun of just playing for fun

          • I hope maybe bungie sees this and takes a couple of ideas from it. No harm in trying right? The only reason I made it winning and losing not individual play is to encourage team play. BUt il edit some stuff in to reward MvP's. Even if they did lose.

            • I'm not a PVP guy but I always felt Ranking in PVP should be based on your individual performance specific to the game mode played. In Rumble, the higher your K/D, score per minute and kills per minute, the higher your ranked, with getting your ass handed to you causes you to lose rank. Control game modes should award rank for capturing and defending control points, just getting kills should not negatively affect you, but if you aren't playing the game mode, you shouldn't rank up either. Negative Progress for bad games, but not for losing. You could go 30-2 or Capture 20 control points and still lose if your team has a bad game and you shouldn't be punished for team effort when ranking is for the individual. But matchmaking should heavily favor rank and be weighted based on your preferred game mode, or determine if you are a generalist PVP player, who excels at most game modes. A Rockstar Player in Clash may not be that great of a Control or Skirmish Player. I agree with your reward system. The better you play the better chance you should have at the best rewards. Even if it is RNG based, it can still guarantee players a minimum reward. MVP should get special rewards. And the LVP (Least Valuable Player) should get the reward equivalent of a dunce cap, just to make it funny and interesting.
