This is like a manifesto

Edited by ShackledDreams: 10/25/2014 10:42:21 PM
I have played console games for decades. Since I was a child, I've had an NES, a SNES, a Nintendo 64, a Gameboy, a Sega Genesis, multiple Playstations, and an XBox 360. I subscribed to Nintendo Power and have played hundreds of hours of Final Fantasy, Mega Man II, Skyrim, and Star Ocean. I'm not as much of a gamer as many, but I have played a lot of them, and this idiotic lottery system that Bungie has utilized has made me angrier than any game has ever made me in my decades of playing. Even angrier than the Ninja Turtles NES game with the abysmal directional control. Angrier than the refueling mission in Top Gun.
While I respect your gaming history as a fellow gamer, I can't help, but to notice that you didn't include Battletoads in your list. Had you experienced the frustrations that came with that wonderful title, the lottery system, Xur and the Cryptarch wouldn't be all that bad.

Disappointed because of RNG lol. It's a gamble
-
The only disappointment I have had from this game was getting the raid chest piece that I already had, when all I need is the boots, but you know what? They give me another opportunity to do the raid next week! So I'll get it done!
-
Edited by Adam: 10/26/2014 12:12:00 AMThe loot system is broken as -blam!-. Anyone who plays this can see that. But the reason it's completely RNG, is because it was built for a player trading driven economy. The rarest weapons have a smaller percentage of dropping rather than a specific task to get them so that they stay rare. (until Xur gives em away of course... PvP Suros Noobfest anyone?) That's why you get different classes' armour too. To trade. They ripped out trading, so now it's just ridiculous.

Funny how I got titan arms with my engram. C'est la vie, caveat emptor.

Edited by Caid Graelbor: 10/25/2014 10:35:43 PMHmmm I read everyone bitching about this switcheroo so I put my motes of light in the vault. I wanted the helmet of dire ahamkara (I think that is the name) and then I logged into my Titan. I spent the motes knowing I would most likely be screwed. Sure enough, it gave me a warlock helmet instead of Titan and it was ahamkara to boot. So... I got lucky by letting myself get screwed as screwed up as that sounds lol.

It's a gamble man. The description even tells you that.

You do know it says (random class) next to whatever engram... legendary or exotic right? Either your a piss poor troll or just completely retarded and can't read.
-
I know very well the feeling you're having. RNGesus giveth and RNGesus taketh away. Lootifer seeks to push us to physical anger by taunting us with the promise of reward, only to break us every week. I started the game with a Titan. I wanted ONE piece of armor- Crest of Alpha Lupi. I know Xur offered it weeks ago, but that was the week I bought the game and didn't have the coins. Since then I've watched the game give me ascendant garbage for literally (NOT AN EXAGGERATION) a dozen purple engrams. Every week Xur comes back with garbage for Titans. He's never repeated Crestof Alpha Lupi but I've seen Helm of Saint 14 and Armamentarium both twice. I was on the verge of returning it. I actually thought the game had something against me. So, I started a Hunter. Just two days ago I received two legendary engrams and one of my blue engrams decrypted into legendary armor. Xur came this week with The Crest of Alpha Lupi for hunter (I was filled with such complex emotions at this that I just began to laugh hysterically) and the engram, as you said. I gambled on the engram and got exactly what I wanted. First time in a month. I think the point is that future developers need to either make an MMO, or a rigidly linear FPS with absolutely fair PVP. Don't fuse the two. They made one ugly baby.
I have played console games for decades
I stopped caring about here but, as I'm sure you realized (and hoped you knew before hand) engrams are a gamble.
-
While I feel at one with your gaming history. I must say, most games of this type use largely random loot systems. Not as random as Destiny though... So I feel some of your pain. At the same time, I kind of like not having boss loot tables, since that causes people to bail if boss x didn't drop loot y.
http://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/74969747/0/0/1
'Nuff said.

For ten less coins you could've have an exotic for your class, but you decided to gamble in hopes of getting something different. You even mention pausing before buying because you knew the risk. Im sorry but that was your decision and you can't complain about it and expect to be taken seriously
-
I would never buy gautlet engram in fear of getting sunbreaker :P
-
WHAT!?!? CAN YOU NOT READ THE "RANDOM CLASS" WORD THINGIE SENTENCE TYPE TEXT MODE LETTERS ARRANGED IN A COHERENT TYPE FORM EXPLAINING TO YOUR SHORT BUS ASS THAT ITS RANDOM.!?!?!? Welcome To Planet Motherfûcker. Enjoy your stay.

First off legendary and exotic engrams both say (RANDOM CLASS) so you choosing to buy it knowing that you may get a different class if you wanted something class related you should have earned your strange coins to buy it just saying
-
But it's a known lottery. If you don't want to play it, spend your motes elsewhere.
-
Let me get this straight...you're butthurt because you got something you didn't want from an engram that clearly tells you it's contents are not guaranteed to be for your class
-
Ha I feel you're pain except when I did it I got the gauntlets my friend wanted and he got the ones I want want Ha....
-
You are an idiot it says random arm what part of random did you not understand? If it gave you boots instead of gauntlets i might understand a little bit you got what was promised you lol dont like it stop playing no reason to complain about the smallest thing you arent upset when you get a free purple that gives you an arm are you? Maybe but anyway get on with your life bro if you didnt have any fun in your journey to attaining the motes of light what would make it fun after getting exotic gloves? Why didnt you buy an exotic chest that was guaranteed like your example the teddy bear?
-
There are three gauntlets, one for each class ( I think) so you have a 1/3 chance of getting the gauntlets you want. It says random class on the engram dude. While I understand your frustration, just relax, it's a game.

Edited by khaosrayne: 10/25/2014 10:30:42 PMHonestly, my only gripe with the game are these things: 1 force you to do pvp for pve exotic bounties. The pvp in this game is atrocious, I think, if I wanted to pvp, I would have. Why are you forcing me to pvp? 2 pvp net code, or the net code in general. People that literally teleport, not blink, teleport like the vex, are bullet sponges themselves because of their or the server lag. 3 lack of coherent story 4 too many factions with no real purpose Other than those, I think the game is fine. You knew the enegram was a gamble, this is the way it is. Better luck next time
-
I thought everyone knew that Xur's exotic engrams weren't guaranteed for any specific class. I knew it but I still get one every week.
