A REAL solution to gear. ATTN: Deej

Since launch there has been tons of complaints. This weapon is too strong for pvp. It gets nerfed. Now it's too weak for pve compared to the effort it took to get. You need to fix the actual problem instead of hotfix nerfs and buffs. All you are doing is fixing the symptoms and not the REAL problem. You are running a game where you have players that purely want to PvP. You have players that purely want to PvE. You have players that are in the middle. Now I know you guys are saying this game is NOT an MMO, it just has elements OF an MMO, (more accurately it is an online fps RPG) and that is fine. But if you want to be taken seriously, and remain relative, you NEED to add separate gear stats that cater to each category of player. The solution is not to nerf high level raid gear. All you are doing by doing that is discouraging players from working so hard to clear the content you were excited to give them. It is also a slap in the face to all the players that put in the effort to finish the raid. The solution is to make weapons and gear sets with stats on them that REDUCE the effectiveness of super weapons like the VM. You should have to earn this PvP gear simply by PvPing your ass off. On the other end of the spectrum you should have gear that is clearly desirable for PvE. There would obviously be the small issue of balancing new stats and perks, (a few easy examples would be armor penetration, reducing incoming damage by players, shield burn etc.) but it would save you the hassle of content player complaints, and endless patches to nerf or buff specific items that people work hard for. The rest of the balancing would be easy. You want to go pve in your high tier hard earned PvP gear? OK good, go ahead, you'll do okay but you won't be as effective as somebody geared in pve raid gear. You want to PvP in your raid gear? Good but the same rules apply to you vice versa. You want to take the rarest and hardest to earn weapon in the game into PvP? Good you should have a SLIGHT edge over PvP weapons with that, because you damn well earned it but it better be rare and hard to get. This is one issue that needs to addressed sooner than later if this game wants to stay relevant. Thank you if you read all the way to the bottom of this post. Comments, criticism and thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Anything that can be done to bring this to bungies attention if they haven't already come to this solution on their own would be great.

  • Bump. It's like the vex should stay strong for pve but anyone could tell it was a mobster pvp. To kill it in both was suicide. So yep agreed the whole way

    • Bump. I've been saying this for weeks now. We need more variety. We need high level PvE and PvP gear to go with the raid set. The raid gear has raid specific perks that are useless outside of the raid, and only have one set of endgame gear really limits out playstyle. They have The Trials of Osiris coming with PvP gear, but what about PvE? I suggest they could just stitch a few strikes together. Example Start with Sepiks, at the end a giant wizard pops in and teleports you to a new strike. This goes on for about 3 or 4 strikes. Then at the end you have to fight the wizard. He's really hard and had abilities normal wizards don't have. -Marks 1 player for an insta kill. -Poisons random team members that you somehow have to save. -once he drops to a certain amount of health he starts porting in strike bosses. Etc. This is just an idea, but I totally agree, we need PvE and PvP sets of gear. Not just raid.
