So we've heard rumours...

...that Destiny's story was changed late last year, but what if there was plenty more changed? This video a friend shows me goes back through all of Bungie's Destiny videos and shows us what has been cut or drastically changed from the current retail version we have. -Armor and Weapons didn't have level reqs, just Weapon/Armor level that scaled the weapon/Armor effectiveness to that player's level. -Legendaries and Exotics dropped at ANY POINT IN THE GAME, scaling with player level. -Weapon upgrade trees were much different and there wasn't any need for farming for resources or ascendant materials, and they had better upgrades. -Factions seemed to play a bigger role in the game overall. -The Reef was a fully rendered play area in-game as a possible safe haven space like the Tower. -Both Saturn and Mercury were also fully rendered in-game. (There wasn't any footage of actually being on-planet.) So what the hell happened? Destiny got a major reworking prior to us getting the game, so it is essentially NOT the game they were selling us from the beginning... What happened to the REAL DESTINY?

  • My criticism of Destiny is that the story is an incoherent hodge-podge, and that it seems very content-light. I've played a couple of hours a day, maybe three or four days a week since launch, and I feel like I've done everything. There's no real incentive to explore. I've lost count of the number of times I've killed Phogoth and Sepiks Prime. A triple-A MMO should be about four times the size of this upon launch. Nor is there much incentive to level up a new character - it's a matter of replaying the same campaign (with unskippable cutscenes) to reach the same end point. There are no alternate routes to explore, the races all play the same. The Crucible is an unforgiving and lacklustre experience - the game modes are generic, the maps are generic, the weapons are generic. It is not friendly for newbies at all. I really can't see Destiny having anything even close to 10 years of longevity.
