Suggestion: Improving Patrols & Resource Farming

I don't mind having to gather resources (i.e. Spirit Bloom, Helium Filaments, etc.) to upgrade my legendary and exotic armor and weapons. I don't mind how long it takes me to gather the upgrade materials. What I do mind is the way in which I am forced to do it. Patrolling for a long period of time "fighting" through extremely low level enemies to be rewarded with a single instances of the different resources. What this results in is me running a circuit on the Moon from one cave to another opening 20 or 30 chests that contain only 1 Helium Filament each while 1 shot-ing level 8 dregs cause they are blocking the doorway. What I am suggesting is there to be a difficulty option (similar to strikes and story missions) that allows me to scale the difficulty of Patrols. As the difficulty goes up, so does the reward found in each loot chest. So, if I want to run a Patrol on the moon on the easy difficulty I can still do that. Opening 20 chests to get 20 pieces of material. But if I want to up the challenge (and increase the fun) let me up the difficulty and then I only need to open 4 or 5 chests to get 20 pieces of material. It should take me the same amount of time at both difficulty levels. On the easier difficulty level I can just run from chest spawn to chest spawn while on the harder difficulty I will need to fight through enemies (and not die) in order to get to the more bountiful loot chests. The main reason that we need this option is because the Guardians that are farming for materials are higher level anyway and need more then 1 or 2 Spirit Bloom. They need 20 or 30. Why make the Guardians run through level 8 enemies and find stock-piles of 1 Spirt Bloom each? This isn't fun. But instead work. I would much rather up the difficulty so that I am challenged against level 25 or higher enemies and then when I do find a chest it has 5 Spirit Bloom in it. High risk, high reward. What do you guys think?
