What a great video, that 5 second cut scene with the crow is better than the garbage Bungie somehow pushed out in the final release. Upgrading weapons looks way better that way and the abilities are way cooler. Something very terrible happened in Destiny's development. And I doubt we'll ever know, but the reddit's on this topic are probably mostly accurate. Faction Wars as PvP? Hell yeah, sign me up. Choose a side and go to war? Way better than a guardian training ground. Well, at least Destiny isn't as bad as Daikatana post release :p

2 RepliesI'm glad someone put all of that in one video. The Bungie Defense Force doesn't seem to realize that these were marketing videos for the retail release and way past the point of being a "concept" video. This was gameplay and it was cannibalized into DLC for a cheap cash grab because Bungie couldn't get its house in order. Good luck moving copies of Destiny 2.

It is a very well thought out video. The only problem is that Batman is blaming the wrong people. Bungie is/are a Dev team. They brought this perfect, exciting idea to Activision (most likely because they were the only publishers with the kind of money to see Bungie's dreams through) and they agreed to publish Destiny. Publishers decide, ultimately, what get's released and what get's sold later as DLC. Dev's have no control over those decisions, and if someone does stand up against those decisions, they get the boot; ie Joe Staten. Activision cut up what was going to be the next Halo, in terms of what Halo did for the FPS gaming franchise (revolutionized it to epicness, yes that is a word and I'm going to use it) and did what they do to every game, mutilate it to gain the most profit. My guess is that when things went south late 2013 after Joe made a stand against what Activision was going to do with their game Bungie asked for another postponement of the game in order to finish development properly and was subsequently denied that request. Trying to get everything done by launch date they had to run willynilly to figure out how to satisfy customer's with what was left them. I do agree with almost the entire player base that they should have stuck with the original story and gameplay. I do think, however, that Activision's meddling with the game made it impossible. This is all just conjecture of course but a lot can be gleaned from all the sources. Personally I still love this game! PvP is balanced if you really take time to think about it. The story will be patched over time and I am yet to be bored with it. I am a husband and father of two so I only get roughly two hours of gameplay a day hence no boredom with the game.

Only thing I can say is activision is a genius when it comes to making money. Im sure bungie didn't want to exclude all that stuff. But activision publishes it. And tells them hey, take this out, and sell it to them later.

7 RepliesHere's the thing. A lot of what he is complaining about is content, which is probably gonna be released to us in expansions. Stop calling them DLC's, DLC and expansion are two very different things, ask any MMO gamer. Some features they may have broadcast in the year before launched were probably changed due to beta feedback or design choices. But guess what, a year before launch, most games get changed, sometimes drastically. It's the most high pressure time when developing a game, when their publishers are beating them with a stick to make deadlines and to increase their profits. A lot of advertised content we will see; Saturn, Mars, even a playable Reef area (can't wait for that one) willl be released for players sooner than you think. Upon release of the game, you could buy the first two expansions, one being released in December, and one a few months later. Which means, that a previous pot is probably right. Activision overrid bungie and made them change how the game was going to be originally released in order to secure a higher profit. What I'm more upset about is no global chat, fireteam chat when strikes are randomized, and a freaking LFG tool. The LFG tool doesn't have to be random, but don't force your players to troll the forums looking for a group, it breaks continuity of game play. But the feature in the game.

Too late. Clearly the player base has been dwindling from what became apparent as a substantially reduced population. The fact that the game space isn't more populated is rather a good sign of that one.

A very well done video that clearly explains the confusion among the player base. I think bungie delivered a good product - unfinished and unpolished, yes, but all in all good. This video serves as a reminder that bungie set themselves up for such high expectations. What changed?

I want to play THIS game. But seriously, this makes me SO SAD. Still some anger. But mostly just an empty pit in the bottom of my stomach. This game looked full and lush with rpg elements, story, playable area, and lore. Even the pvp was rooted in lore with faction story lines. Then apparently it was gutted to be sold back to us over, well, who knows how long of a time period. So. Sad. I'm going to go cry.

Aye. Words do not describe how much I wanted a Playable Reef, and let's not forget the guns. If one were to go to a Destiny Wiki they'd find a page called Sanctuary No. 2. This is an auto-rifle unlike any in the game, it's bullpup for a start. I'm wondering what happened to the unique and colourful guns we were promised. And where is my playable Reef?
