All the games mentioned in this thread are proof, that it isn't really that hard to create games around really clever, emotional and intriguing storylines. What really impresses me is when developers have the balls to tell uncomfortable stories, stories with no real heroes or happy endings. With that being said, my favorites are 1. Spec Ops The Line 2. Far Cry 2 Both games are really tough and uncompromising takes on Joseph Conrads' "Heart of Darkness" and therefore they have one thing in common. Violence in those games aren't glorified, even though they are both pretty violent games. Far Cry gives you the opportunity to chose your own approach and usually getting involved into firefights doesn't end so well for you so you think twice about attacking. This feeling completely gets lost in Far Cry 3 and 4... And Spec Ops? Well, you can't really avoid the fighting but there is always some kind of "This isn't right" feeling about the violence...i don't wanna spoil it for anyone who hasn't played it yet...
