You're trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist, except through the distorting lense of the feedback forums. What else are people going to spend their strange coins on? I earn them through weekly strikes, which are by their very definition heroic. Am i therefore not doing it right? Even though i find it charming that you've appointed yourself the barometer by which we set our gear earning potential by, i suggest you ask yourself whether it actually makes a difference to your enjoyment of the game if i buy a sniper rifle from xur? Or maybe you should just be thankful that if we are ever on the same fireteam that i've got the firepower to back you up.....
