Crucible: A great Titan = Mediocre Warlock/Hunter

Lets me preface by saying: I am a novice at Crucible - I am also judging this in Clash/Kill vs. Kill style PvP Lets be honest..a skilled Hunter/Warlock far outclasses a skilled Titan. A skilled Titan is by far the hardest PvP accomplishment. A mediocre Hunter/Warlock has a toolset to hold their own with the best Titans..but skilled Hunters/Warlocks are in a league on their own. A skill set built on melee, close quarters combat, isnt so great considering 99% of the opposition have adopted OHK weaponry. To be honest much of the melee heavy skill set doesn't out do the opposing classes forms of it but in some instances under-performs. Many times its just kill exchange where you and an opponent punch each other to death. And ZERO range... Everyone will say "The shoulder charge! The shoulder charge!"...yes its effective unless..everyone..is..using..a..shotgun. It isnt that incredible, its a noob killer but wont do much vs. an opposing player who isnt dumb as a rock. Theres no lock on to it, it takes a running start and fizzles out most times its used and..to be honest most times you just meet the barrel of a shotty or fusion rifle. But yes, its a devastating thing if your opposition is heavy on poor players. The nades..the best nades are on an opposite subclass then the most effective subclass. Beyond that a blind, special stopper, or wall of damage types doesn't match up to other classes. The special...why would this trump the AoE of the Warlock? It too like other Titan skills depends on closing the gap between you and them...which in Destiny means "prepare your self for instant death weapons!" Theres a clear separation between Titan Defense and Offense skills. While other classes can balance the too or rely on range or evasion the Titan has a clear cut decision to make. But all those decisions still come down to having zero range mostly and to some extent almost no clear advantage over what an opponents skill set offers...perhaps less! Lastly...serious, everyone gets some warp jump and we basically have different forms of being a sitting duck? C'mon Titans even get dumbed down on something as basic, and pvp effective, as jumping! Sure, call me a bad player, tell me I'm wrong etc.. Tell me how you played them all and Titan is the best, I'll just say your one of the great Titans. Tell me how Titans kick your Warlock/Hunters butt, Ill tell you must be on the lower mediocre ability for those classes. Theres just no argument, the Titan skill set is under powered and underwhelming when all 3 classes are placed evenly along on another in a Kill vs. Kill/Clash type gameplay.

  • As someone who focuses on titan game play I can tell you that defender is actually far more powerful than you think. A skilled player can use the guaranteed kill from a sticky and can do huge kill chains by skilling the regenerating ward of dawn perk. Meaning that unless you do enough damage all at once to break that extra Sheila they will have regenerated most of it. Ward of dawn can also block key sources of damage instantly turing a fight along with guaranteeing an objectives capture unless an enemy uses their super to clear you out. That's also assuming that you didn't see it coming and hid behind the shield or that they are a bladedancer who will be forced to fight you on your turf. It's far more versatile than the bulk of the other classes and on par with sunsinger.
