Remove Player to Player Solidity

Alright I get it- realism. Humans can't walk through other humans. But video game ones can and SHOULD, even if it dampens the realism. Why? -All too many times in PVE am I pushed out of cover by some absolute pleb who can't still for 2 seconds. -All too many times in PVP, throw a grenade only to have an idiot teammate step in front of me during the action, causing it to blow up on him (same with rockets) -I literally spent 10 minutes bored the other day just walking into my friends idle character and making it die off a cliff over and over - but if I can do if for fun, it should be obvious that it happens all the time for "not fun" and I mean even though it was fun, I'm sure he doesn't enjoy all those guardian deaths on his grimoire card for that map. But guess what, nothing he could do about it because Bungie made us all solid as rock. One I really hate, is I always get a-holes who boost their sparrow underneath mine, which flips me over and messes me up for 30 seconds. Oh and they somehow do this with crappy sparrows when I have the Timebreaker and should outspeed them easily but that's another story for another time.... All in all there's no benefit to having player to player solidity. It's annoying as hell and causes a bunch of gameplay problems - that while not apparent in every mission, can sometimes manifest horribly. Who wants to get walked off the edge by their partners in the VoG on Hard? I know I don't. All in all I'd like somebody to find me a reason we SHOULD have this feature because I think I got it covered why we shouldn't. Not accepting: 'realism' This is a vidya, not reality. (PVE enemies and PVP opponents should still be solid, no walking through. )

  • Besides your "unaccepted" realism argument, the only thing I can think is this: Being incorporeal to friendlies but corporeal to enemies doesn't make sense within the rules of the game world itself. While a Sci-Fi setting, the basic rules of physics seem to be in effect; gravity pulls down, two objects can't occupy the same space at the same time. To have my friend walk through me, but enemy bullets hit me is somewhat nonsensical. And I'm sorry, even if you don't like the argument, realism is still valid. The rest of this game is grounded in a type of reality, that is part of its draw. We cannot arbitrarily abandon that for the sake of convenience, because in all, that is what this change would be about: convenience. Yes getting bumped out of place or flipped on the sparrow is annoying, but in the grand scheme of things, it is a rather nitpicky annoyance.
