Too much Too soon

I've put some time into Destiny since launch and have enjoyed it so far. There are plenty issues but I've not played a game yet that didn't have something to complain about. "Buyer beware" comes to mind but I won't tread down that path. I say play a different game if it troubles you that much. I don't recall getting a letter from Bungie or anyone else promising me anything in particular for purchasing the game. If I stop playing I don't lose anything that matters. If you say the game lacks content, balance, story, or is too much of a grind then move on to something that has what you want. I feel Bungie gave us too much far too soon. When I first started playing and I found my first green engram I was intrigued. "Uncommon" was displayed and I thought I had something special. Not much farther into the game I got a blue. "Rare." A step beyong uncommon to be sure. A real find, more powerful that I'd had to that point. Not too long after, greens flooded the wasteland, blues were just as common. Soon after everybody had multiple purples and yellows and anything less got torn apart to make room for whatever would come next. Now people complain because so many have this gun or that armor proving that rare isn't rare and exotic is less than exotic. Imagine if you were still scrapping for greens and blues because they were trully uncommon and rare. Imagine you're still level 18 working hard to make 19. If you were level 30 right now with full raid gear and every weapon upgraded, what would you do? Complain about the level cap? Ask for more content? Why are you all in such a rush for the end? "Give me more, I paid for more." All the while I think we've all gotten too much, too soon.

  • You pretty much nailed it. Natural progression should have required you to play through each level of Tiger Strike to obtain better blue gear (allowing for greater progression), culminating in the weekly heroic and nightfall rewarding the purple/exotic gear needed to get into VoG. Instead, you could just grind rep by doing patrols on Earth, buy a full set of purple gear a week or so after launch, and be "raid ready" without even developing your character. People level 28+ without having maxed out skill trees is ridiculous. I should know, my warlock is like that.

  • I'm just still really enjoying it, but yeah it's not like you really need to be particularly skilled to progress. I am a complete rookie, never stuck at an FPS before cause always had huge issues with controlling the camera.. so, would just give up. But, from what I can tell, everything's a progression, even when you lose in PvP you get something. Maybe if it was more, you need to survive x amount of time/ get to a certain point to get the xp for stuff or whatever.. I don't mean make it impossible to get anywhere and sap the enjoyment out of it for those who aren't great at it, but maybe have the levels be more of an indication of the skill of the player.

    • they shotgunned the planets too. each planet has its own story if you ignore the filler cutscenes minus the Reef and look at each planet as its own story it makes so much more sense if they released each planet as DLC and just finished teh story on earth before moving to the moon it would be more fulfilling

    • I completely agree with you on this if it would have been even a little bit more of a struggle to get to such a level where you simply walk through every challenge they laid out and at far to fast a pace and you wind up stuck waiting on dlc for more spinning your wheels. On that same note tho it gives everyone time to have all three classes built how they want them and even have gear for both the PvP and PvE aspects in your vault by the time the dlc drops. So as you can see I agree but maybe this is how they planned it?
