ignoring the deaf
I was born deaf and have been gaming for 20 years. Ever since the N64 and Gamecubes. Even King Kong on the PC 64 bits graphics.
Ive been in this game since launch and i have to say im really disappointed. People still thinks deaf is a burden. Thinks that all deaf people shouldnt be playing a online game cuz they cant use a mic/ cant understand what others says.
I have been invited to a couple of raids games and have always been kicked either cuz im deaf or cuz im not speaking in a party or game. My point is, im tired of being kicked more than i usually have been. I played raid a few times cuz im lucky to have a friend and his clan that understands and supports me. Why cant some of you be like that?? Instead of kicking deaf people from raids, why dont you try letting them play. Some deaf can play really good. What we lack in hearing, we make up for it with focus.

Well the raid is sort of based on coordination and communication lol Some sort of chat log window would be alright, smartglass or keyboard = way for people like you to communicate better

I'm down to game with you I use Xbox glass on my phone to msg people faster. My GT: ThamaJama,,,level 30 titan. If you need a good player in your team hit me up I'm always down to help out players who didn't finish the raid/nightfall. Cheers

If you typed me a message telling me you were deaf, I'd have no problem taking you along or answering your questions or giving you instructions via text. Unfortunately I don't have that option aside from exiting/pausing the game and using PlayStation chat. PlayStation chat takes forever because for some reason PlayStation doesn't want to let me use a keyboard to type out what I want to say. When I plug a keyboard into my PS4, it tells me that it has detected a keyboard, but won't let me actually use it for anything.

You have to understand that some people are limited with time and the reason why most people request a mic is for communication so that they can get the Raid done faster. It's hard enough trying to explain the fight to players who have a mic, showing someone who doesn't can be a daunting task. I recommend that you learn all of the checkpoints on the game and assign yourself a task before you find a group and let them know that you wont be using a mic but you know all of the fights and are capable of holding the relic, defending the relic, etc. The online community is filled with inconsiderate people, but some people are also just trying to finish the raid asap.

Last week I played the raid with another player who was deaf. I don't think people have an issue as long as you tell them why you aren't talking. If someone is simply silent with no explanation then your fire team doesn't know what to expect.

Nephew is hearing impaired. He is normally the top performer in any group he joins and has beast numbers in PvP. It isn't a handicap, just less distractions.

1 ReplyBefore I had a mic i used the Playstation app on my phone to communicate with my clan. It's fast, well formated and a great way to communicate tactics if everyone uses it without having to open the console chat system.

I give you +1 ,not having one of the senses we normal people have, I give you and others with being deaf or anything huge amount of credit. I wish maybe one day psn or a game could be able to put subtitles in of what other players are saying. So you and others could be on the same page with anyone.
