You are, as of today, one week away from seeing many of your Crucible players find the airlock when CoD drops. Right now I cannot blame anyone who shelves or sells this game because of the failure to deliver on the advertised promises let alone the inability of Bungie/Deej to provide meaningful responses to valid criticisms and suggestions for improvement of our game. I am personally sticking with you just a little while longer but while I was initially an ardent supporter of Bungie, Destiny, & your DLC pay model I am now on the fence. What comes with The Dark Below will be my progress check with you. If you have not heard us by then and provided us with clear path and timeline for when some of these needed improvements will come, I will sadly move on. I know I am not alone. Please start respecting the voice of your players. We understand you had a vision but sometimes you have to put the hubris aside and realize that the vision has to change. Many of us are tired of posting to a wall that no one with the power to make changes seems to be reading. Respectfully //Ozman51
Bungie, Ozman voices widely shared sentiments, but there's a puzzle piece behind the table leg, and it's big enough to qualify as an unmentionable elephant in this room: >>> Bungie: Careers <<< Every one of the things we're calling for has a vacant job on the other end of it. We're up to 46 (EDIT: 48) open positions now, which means five were added this week alone. You don't even have anybody in place whose dedicated job is to take our feedback and bring it to the design team. Deej is basically just the hype man for this circus, and he did a brilliant job pre-launch teasing us and keeping secrets. But you can't expect Flava Flav to reform Public Enemy with an all new lineup and have it be anything other than a gimmick. Secrets are the opposite of what your customers need now. No offense Deejie-Baby, but you're not a Player Advocacy Lead, and people need to accept that. You need to tell them. You need to tell them that there's not enough space-monkeys on the other end of this party line to do what they want done right now. It's no secret that you're scrambling for help, but you're ACTING like it is....hoping that it is...behaving like we're too myopic to click a link on your website and see that you are in way over your heads. Like we'll all vanish overnight if Bungie finally admits that they didn't really know what they were getting into and don't have the people on hand to deliver the goods yet. Let the light in folks. Own up to the reality of your careers page. The flood of hate will slow down if you just speak up about what your actual staffing problems and priorities are. Your core fans, your free advocates, your evangelists, the people who sell this game for you and spend hours every day giving you their creative product without recognition or compensation, the people who can't tick all the boxes in your job postings but still lead you to make a better game...those people will appreciate the honesty, and once you've got enough employees to run a game studio again, they'll be back to Sunsinging your praises. You need them on your side far more than you need to hang on to the tattered illusions of AAA stardom that you're toting around with you. They help shape the conversation here, and you can't afford to lose them, because you're not shaping positively it at all. This game will improve drastically, and quickly, once the right people are in the right offices. Right now Destiny isn't even close to being triple A, unless you ask the accountants. But it can be...if you collectively sacrifice a little of your rapidly-spoiling Bungie mystique and use it to buy a yourselves some breathing room, by showing your fanbase some intellectual honesty and a little respect. You can't afford to play pretend any more. Stop whistling past the graveyard. Address staffing in the next Weekly Update; show your customers that you're hiring the people who can build the game they are asking for.

  • Bungie could take a page from the Warframe developers Digital Extremes. Their Community Managers interact with the players live on Twitch EVERY week. And the Developers themselves host Question/Answer/Feedback Twitch sessions Every other week. It feels like Bungie are too busy jerking off over our $, that they stole with their lies about a Destiny that does not exist. NEVER buying a Bungie game AGAIN!

  • It's really disturbing. I want the best for this game but it reminds me Defiance. Same (no) communication, only fix and updates about nerf/buff... A dev' team too small to do anything else... Why console "MMO" games suffers from the same problem ?

Sorry for the necro on this aboniks but I've kind of been stalking you :) After reading your current Trending thread in #Feedback, I decided I like your style so much that I wanted to see what else you have had to say. I found this and can't keep my mouth shut about one vital point that you didn't directly touch on. When a game hasn't launched yet, it is not at all uncommon for a AAA dev's ranks to swell to 200 people and much higher. However, once a game has launched, they thin the numbers and let people go. A normal staff for a studio in Bungie's current position would only be about 50-100 people MAX. That means that they currently have job openings for 50% or more of what what would be considered a full staff. That is NOT. -blam!-ING. GOOD. There are likely some serious reasons why what was once known as one of the most respected developers in the industry has a big problem keeping people on their payroll. I can't think of any that would mean anything good for us, for Bungie, or for the future of this franchise. People don't either leave or refuse to work for one of the highest regarded studios in the industry without a good reason. Thank you for bringing this up. This may turn out to be on of the most telling pieces of evidence we have yet.

      • I don't think you understand. The game they sold us on was finished. Complete with an awesome story and enough content to keep us busy for months. Activision made whats left of Bungie chop it up missmatch it and then throw it back together as slop. Thats why all the bugs happened in the first place and the game is broken in a lot of aspects. It absolutely will never be what it once was. The hype was real but it is now over. And they will never speak of it. They got thier money. Noe they will just try to squeeze out the little bit of juice that is still in the orange before abandoning ship. I promise this will happen. It is sad. But I swear to you all, this is it.

      • The staff at Bungie quit as soon as they heard that their game was going to be hacked to pieces by Activision. Activision sabotaged Destiny and Bungie in fear of what would happen if the original finished Destiny hit stores. So they offered an outrageous amount of money to Bungie and took the rights to the game had it cut into scraps, pasted the pieces together and waaalllaaa...here we are today. Broken, pathetically short of content, no story and more problems than any other next gen game out there. The staff knew this would happen and left with the original writer for Bungie, Joe. Joe left because his story was being ruined to the point that even he didn't want his name on it. Bungie hasn't said a word since then accept through DeeJ. And literally 90% of what he is told to say is shovel fed lies. And after being caught trying to sell the game content that was already put in the game, when people found access to the closed off playable areas, they decided to make of some more horse crap. "We put it on the disc so it wouldn't take so long to download" sure you did. The whole world knows about this fuster cluck of a scam now. And every which way you turn the media is starting to become vocal about it. To DeeJ's credit he has been payed off already. And he is just going through the motions given to him from Activision until the game fizzles out comepletely. When its over, multiple lawsuits will be won. The gaming world will lose interest in the pre-order era, and Bungie and Activision will be remembered as the most sinister and evil master minds in the gaming industry. Next a documentary will be made about it, and Bungie and Activision will lose everything. And there will be a lesson older than time itself, that will be learned all over again. You might have success when you cheat. But sooner or later it will catch up with you. It always does. And this time the deadly sin was greed. Its ironic the games name is Destiny. You shot yourself in the foot Bungie. And Activision gave you the gun.

So let me get something straight, Bungie doesn't "respect the voice of [their] players" but has repeatedly made changes to the forums and to Destiny, based on player feedback? Is this one of those paradoxes we learn about from Sci-Fi? Am I going to McFly myself if I ask for a fix or enhancement, then Bungie puts it in the next patch? ( For you kids, the question here is if by submitting feedback that is implemented, if I will cease to exist, because Bungie "doesn't listen to [their] players", hence I am not a player, and therefor don't exist any more... ) Having an opinion is fine, requesting, even demanding changes is fine. That's what Bungie wants. But putting a stake in the ground like "bungie doesn't respect the voice of [their] players" is absolutely ludicrous, as they have demonstrated time and time again that they DO listen. We just don't always like what they have to say in response.

        • Wanting more people isn't the same as not having people in those positions. I think they want more to help design more content, not because those chairs are currently empty.

          • Cod:AW, Far Cry 4, GTA:PS4 Edition, Dragon Age: Inquisition. These are just a few of the games whose "destiny" it will be to replace Destiny on my PS4. And unless it changes from the unceasing boredom simulator it now is, I can't see me playing Destiny ever again If this shallow, hollow, boring games does not get radically fixed soon, the player base will evaporate. Its gonna be hilarious when the pitiful defenders of this disappointing travesty, find themselves alone in the Tower, wondering where everybody went.

          •
Many of us are tired of posting to a wall that no one with the power to make changes seems to be reading.
Unfortunately, the reason no one @ Bungie is listening is because the majority of users posting on the forums are just flaming, not offering constructive criticism. Yes, there are a few posts with constructive feedback. But by and large, many users are just whining. I especially enjoy the "Activision haters" that cannot wait until CoD AW comes out so they can "quit playing this crappy game".
