Ascendant Shards/Energy - Bunjee y u dew dis? :'(

I realize that I am a complete noob Guardian compared to some of you pro Guardians, but I'm having some trouble getting Ascendant Shards/Energy. Before, I could just dismantle my legendaries that I didn't need and that was a great way to get the Ascendant materials, but apparently Bungie didn't like that I guess. I've heard they patched it, is that true? I haven't tried it since I heard about the patch because I'm afraid I'm gonna just get some damn glimmer and a few sapphire wire. I don't know why they would get rid of ascendant materials coming from dismantled legendaries. I mean, legendaries are pretty hard to come by, so why should I get the same thing from legendaries as I do from rares when I dismantle them? That's stupid, if you ask me. If they were concerned that it was too easy, couldn't they just make it so you get less ascendant materials from dismantling legendaries? Wouldn't that make more sense? Anyway, I'm getting off-topic. What I meant for the point of this post to be is the best method for... well I don't like to use the term "farming," so I guess we'll say "grinding" for Ascendant materials. I know people like to do The Vault of Glass when they get to super-high levels, but I'm only a level 25. And, to be honest, very few of my friends have made the switch from Xbox 360 to Xbox One. And the few that have switched don't even play Destiny. So I am left to play solo just about 100% of the time (which I wouldn't mind doing if it wasn't so damn difficult). And, well, in my experience, those really high level guys who are grinding The Vault of Glass 24/7 don't really have time for a measly level 25 with zero VOG experience. So, do you guys have any suggestions? Like some efficient way to get Ascendant materials by playing solo? Or a way to find high level or experienced people who would be willing to help me grind for my materials? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks guys. Before I post this, there is something else that I wanted to get into and it fits with the topic of this post, I suppose. That is how Bungie made this game to center around team based missions. I know they wanted teamwork to play a big role in this game, but I think that they should at least make it possible for people like me to progress at higher levels by playing solo. At least just give us that option. I have always, ALWAYS played video games solo (with the exception of competitive COD, Game Battles). I just like to progress by myself without relying on other people. Why can't Bungie cater to the people like me? I know I'm not alone. Us solo players make up a significant part of the Destiny community. So, where my solo players at? And what are your thoughts on the 20+ leveling system? Is there anyone out there who isn't having a hard time progressing solo at higher levels?

 • I need ascendant materials to upgrade armor. Can you do stage 1 of VoG over and over again to farm ascendant materials, or can you only get the chests once/week or something like that?
