They could take and hold certain places, like the place where you find rasputin could be patrolled by vanguard npcs and every once in a while you can join a public event like," Help the Vanguard defend the skywatch against the Fallen attack force" or "Lead the Vanguard to retake the skywatch" certainly would add something new to patrol and spice things up a bit, on the moon you could have the vanguard defend archers line and dead orbit could defend the temple of crota or the archive ect, it could give factions a bigger role in the story, imagine patrol missions for faction reputation regardless if you wear a faction bond/cape. Help me get these ideas to bungie guys !

Woah, getting a guild wars 2 vibe into the forum here. Still would be a pretty fun idea considering there really isn't anything better to do in patrol beside collect mats.
-
Friendly npcs you could hire for story missions and strikes
-
They can, for $28.99...
-
Guardians work as a team though, if you wanna kill the homies play some Halo or CoD.
-
-
What would be cool is that you come over a firefight against the Fallen and other Titans, and you can choose if you wanna help out or not?

Any sense of progression in the story would be nice, some npc guardians coming to protect the console that allows you to summon your sparrow for example. The various races could easily slow a lot of guardians progress by simply destroying that console. They could build outposts at map entry points instead of us getting dropped in a relatively deserted spot. Some public events would definitely be good, maybe protecting some faction guardians while they do a resource run, or a 'purge hive tunnels under the ghetto' with a npc or two.

You could also hire some to follow you for glimmer

Ok the last city put up walls to keep out aliens that have spaceships. You really think they're smart enough to send out patrols to retake territory ? BTW if they can rezurrect guardians at will why don't they rezurrect a million of them or something.
-
Well one single guardian is supposed to wield so much power that they are enhanced with the travellers light. 1 guardian should slaughter hundreds of aliens. Humans are really low numbered and rare out of all 5 species. So the reason they don't have computer gaurdians is because the players are the guardians who destroy countless enemy's because one guardian is worth hundreds of aliens and that's why humanity survives with such small numbers within the city. Knowing how they can't make computers so deadly and if they did it would be anoying, they have the players be the guardians of the setting for you. Your idea isn't a bad one however but I hope you understand what I mean. A destiny guardian is like a Star Wars jedi lol.

Excuse me. But you are asking for something remotely resembling a plot. Please stop now
-
Sorry that sounds like it would be a good idea and require some effort.

I would love if they implemented this idea. It would really show that Guardian Efforts in patrol are doing something effective maybe we have less enemies in a particular area but a few stationed NPC guardians at the Cosmodrome wall, and every now and then you see a battle with fallen like how the Vex fight the Cabal on Mars in the one area. They could even implement this for exotic bounty like meet Master Rahool at the Skywatch to examine Hive remains. and he's there and you get your items in the world rather than always at the Tower.

Maybe instead of NPC foot soldiers, there could be an airstrike or something...?
-
Cool idea but knowing Bungie they'd probably be useless

Edited by Raven1Fist: 10/20/2014 8:18:30 PMI hate NPC's I only like them if they're killable. In saying that, there are no soldiers, the guardians are it. I don't even want the NPC plebs walking around the tower like they have something important to do. Take fallout for example, full of kids, could you kill them, no. Except with the sandman perk and only at night but they came to life again in the morning. Adding another faction taking on the enemy and holding ground, smacks of plot advancement.

Vanguard soldiers aren't born from light. Hence why we have guardians -.-

Neat idea, but honestly, Destiny might be the one game where this does NOT work. Compared to say, the upcoming MMOFPS WH40k: Eternal Crusade, where you play as the elite forces of each faction with thousands and hundreds-of-thousands of minions backing you up, Destiny is supposed to be about Knights....The Knight of the Round Table (IN SPACE!!!!) questing out on their own and in small groups. Noble deeds for the sake of noble deeds rather than a conquering army bent on taking/holding territory....
-
That would be awesome.
-
Because that would make too much sense.
-
It's highly likely they will go in this direction I have a hunch the game world will evolve showing us pushing back and recapturing stuff
-
Want this!

Had the same idea check my post :)
