SOLO PVE players need a path to victory!

SOLO PVE players need a patch to victory. Deej (a Bungie Employee) wrote in the 10/17/2014 Weekly Update that the main theme Bungie has is "There should be no single answer for how to win in Destiny.”. To a SOLO PVE player, "winning" means reaching level 30 and the unfortunate reality for us SOLO PVE players is that we have no way to "win".

  • People need to understand that 30 isn't really a level. 20 is the level cap an the ten "levels" after that is indicative of the quality of the person's gear. You gain the best gear by beating the hardest content in the game, something that bungie said pre release would require six people. If you only play solo, you don't need the best gear.

Man I was ready to say no to this and then was reminded:
DeeJ: "There should be no single answer for how to win in Destiny.”
(Checkmate) Now winning to me probably means hitting 30 eventually. Right now there is a single way to do that. OP has a point. There should be a slower solo path just like there should be a Crucible option.

You need raid gear to get to level 30… Good luck doing that solo. Bungie lied about how you can be a "lone wolf" if you want to… yes technically, you can. Except you'll suck at level 29 while everyone will be level 30+ probably level 32 (with cap increase on DLC?) because they have buddies to do the raid with them. And No, I've done the raid twice already -- so I'm not really a lone wolf, but I like to have the option of being a lone wolf and still leveling up in my own pace and way… not relying on people to get up to level 30. Being FORCED to find people to do raids in order to progress is a TERRIBLE idea. People want to be given choices, not forced. Doing it using raids should be ONE of the ways of doing it. Not the ONLY way.

    • I just made a post like this a little while ago and I support it completely. I am really bad at just asking people to do the raid and I hate being the leader of such groups especially when I've never done the raid before (did it for the first time last night though). I also don't have the ability to make myself available for hours at a time to do the raid. I have a really busy schedule and playing destiny is one of the ways I can relax when I have an hour or so. Why should I not be able to advance and have a chance at getting good gear too. Maybe this is selfish or whatever but I really enjoy being able to complete something very difficult on my own. I did the nightfall solo and it was really gratifying. Just one campaign like excursion across all the planets with a bunch of different objectives and the possibility of getting really good gear is good enough for me. Hell I would settle for the entire single player campaign that is out now to be level 28 and progress seemlessly from one mission to the next with the possibility to get drops at the end mission of each planet. I really don't think this would be too difficult since the missions are already done just some coding to change the ending of them instead of taking you to orbit it just makes you go to the next mission start point.

Could not agree more - The future for keeping the Destiny universe "alive and well" is in PvE similar to a much more extensive Lara Croft / Tomb Raider game. Watch the drop off in PvP numbers once Advanced Warfare hits the shelves - Crucible ?; What Crucible? The lack of story depth is annoying because we catch glimpses of what "could have been" amazing - as it stands now I know more about Master Chief and I've never played a minute of Halo. If Bungie could create a "path to victory" for the single player that parallels the current multiplayer raids (not replaces them) that might hold player interest - what I would suggest is that Destiny create a path which would force you to create and level up a character in each class and then allow a player to switch between characters within a single player raid to complete their path to victory - in lieu of who can finish the Glass raid the quickest or with the fewest players on a squad; the challenge would then be who can complete a "solo" person raid with only a Titan; or a Warlock and a Bladedancer; - with exclusive 30+ weapon/armor for single players.

      • Agreed, all the pve players complain about having to do pvp challanges. Welcome to the other side of your whine coin pure pve players. Solo players bought this game too. They should have same chance as everyone else fitting their play style. simple as that

      • When you talk about solo play you get hit with "stfu this is an mmo". Then when you point out what it lacks compaired to other vanilla mmos you get hit with "stfu this isn't an mmo". So confusing it is. Identity crisis maybe?

      • I agree, up to the point of the Raid. As I solo player, I think it's alright if there are one or two major missions that require teams to succeed. But, with that there needs to be optional matchmaking for every mission.

      • Agreed, solo pve should at least be an option. Seems like the "balanced" thing to do.

          • As a solo pve player I don't see the need to get to lvl 30. It's not going to make me any more powerful, all my weapons are more than capable of dispatching anything the hive, fallen and vex have to offer. Obviously this means that I'll bottom out at 29 when all my legendary/exotic gear are fully upgraded and at that point I'll stop and wait for the dlc.

          • Yeah I agree. I play destiny most of the time on my own, in the crucible or strikes with randoms. I play with friends occasionally when they are online, some are not raid level yet and others just do their own thing, most have stopped playing altogether to be honest. As it stands now there is no way for me to get to 30, im 28 and without raiding with 5 friends I don't have to play with and no matchmaking I can't really progress. Like it or not this will turn a lot of players off Destiny altogether.

            • So you want the gear that takes beating the hardest content in the game by doing some easy solo mission or strike? Because that's what it means to get to 30. There is no way around it since levels are tied to gear.

                  • I totally agree, there needs to be a path for solo PVE players. The game currently automatically excludes anyone that can't or doesn't want to work with a six player team. I like the idea of solo raids, which would also make Flawless Raider a more accessible trophy.

                  • I strongly agree with this. Teamwork is always a great route please Bungie don't keep it as the only route to maxing our character. Not everyone resonates with the term "teamwork" and prefer to do things alone. I'm the lone wolf type in games. I love completing challenges on my own hell I've solod 3 nighfalls, all the weekly's and daily on 28 which is nothing

                    • I love how much that quote is being taken out of context. They're referring to weapon selection. True balance is achieved when player skill, and not weapon type, determines the outcome of a firefight. Sheesh.
